I must say, that is tempting.
You could regulate the heat of the fuel, by where you place it in the exhaust system. __________________ Greg H. |

I sure I could too, but if something went horrably wrong and my cruiser caught fire, I wouldn't have anyone to replace it, but my own pocket.
And my pocket isn't as deep as it used to be.

The group has been around less than 2 years.
I don't want to appear critical, but, that isn't much data to put up against the test of time, which should be at least 5 yrs and better yet 10 or more to show it's strengths and it's weaknesses. __________________ Greg H. |

Who said anything about a mickey mouse lash-up?. A heat exchanger is a pretty simple component, if you can weld & fit decently there is no reason one should not be able to make one. Even if made out of 316 stainless, it would not cost $150. So why does that make me a nickel and dimer? Maybe I would prefer to fabricate something myself, for the enjoyment that I can do it, and save money doing it? Maybe we don't all have hoards of money like yourself? You send me the $150 and I'll buy it just to save you the greif. Infact, why don't you send me $40,000 and I'll go out and buy a new vehicle so I don't have to nickel and dime my way through keeping this one running. While you are at it, send me the dough for me to purchase a WVO kit & installation for my cruiser instead of piecing it together on my own, because it's so much more "nickle and dimey" As far as I'm concerned this board is for discussion. Why must we have so much negativity? Bouncing ideas off ideas - that's how we evolved from riding horses to the "top quality vehicle" we use today. You have a wealth of knowledge, and I am very glad you make posts here - for the most part... I'm sure in a few posts you will go back and delete all your previous posts. I never understood that concept either.

Could you consider that I have allot of other things on my plate, and don't always have the time to join every group that pops up ( especially if their message history indicates poor activity )? Could you consider that I also have to deal with a chronic health problem that takes up more time than most people spend at their jobs each week? I have to pick and chose where I spend my time, and I am currently trying to spend a small part learning about my cruiser. I'll tell you what, why don't you join the other group, ask all the questions, then get back to us with one single report. As it is, you your self is a little guilty of jumping to conclusions, thinking I had the time or inclination of joining a group with a poor posting history. MrMoMo and I were talking about this: Specter Off-Road, Inc.-Landcruiser Parts & Accessories (818)882-1238 , and about if we could ( or should ) make one instead of buying one, when you jumped in about the injection line heaters. I'm not saying that it was wrong, but I asked you a specific question about them, and all you did was point to a group that was a little less than a couple of years old ( and with as poor a posting history as it had, I'm not sure I would have received a reply ). If you can't answer the question say so, but please don't expect us to go through the pain in the procedures of joining a yahoo group with a post history that is questionable.I looked into the supplier of the heated injector lines, and all I saw was a 2nd hand website, that made me wonder how long they are going to be around to support their product, so I asked " How long have they been around to withstand the test of time? ". I did so, because I saw nothing on their website, that specified how long they were in business. Further, of all the veggie oil promoters, I have not, seen a popular one, that used injection heaters that were being promoted at that website. Why? Because the most common type, heat the oil before it even get's to the injection lines, so they don't have to worry about cold oil in the injection lines. How do I know this? I have only spent the last 6+ years researching alternative energy. These folks have been doing veggie oil well back into the early 80's: Straight vegetable oil as diesel fuel: Journey to Forever and have a long history of checking out various methods and fairly good info. Join their forum if you like, but, they are some what anti-American. These folks have been doing alternate energy for almost as long: wastewatts : Sustainable Technology Discussion Group , better yet, some of them are totally off grid, one of whom has a standby gen, he built and runs on veggie oil when the sun doesn't shine enough. Of the two, I recommend Waste Watts as the overall better group, they have all the up to date info, and are constantly expanding the 'data base', with people who are more interested in energy self sufficiency than politics ( unlike the Journey to Forever forum ). __________________ Greg H. |
