2009 DLC Ride Ideas

We are going to get things off a rolling in 2009 in our first year as a club. I am proposing that we do a club ride at least every quarter (maybe more) of 2009. These rides can be our own private rides and/or events hosted by other TLCA clubs.

Right now all ideas are welcome for ride ideas. Let's shoot to get a ride planned for the first part of 2009 by the end of the year. Post your ideas and we will go from there.

idea?

well I enjoy going to Morris Mt and a few of the other parks in that area, but ,im just throwing this out there, I dont know if yall have ever heard of Eglin AFB but there are thousands of acres and countless trails to ride(ive been riding in that area for the last 5 years and havent even seen all of the trails), its Florida so there arent to many rocks but there are tons of washout trails and hill climbs and some deep water crossings and florida mud, there are places to camp and such, to get be able to ride all you have to have is a pass that costs $10 for anyone over 16 in the vehicle and thats it.
the Florida FJCruiser guys ride out there and alot of those guys know the area really good, last summer a few different clubs met up out there and we all camped and had a crawlfish and shrimp boil, its alot of fun, anyhow I know that most of yall live in northern Al but I was just throwing that out there.
I look forward to meeting some more of yall and being a part of the Dixieland Cruiser society

Yeah, those guys came up to Skyline this weekend to wheel with us. They're a good group. They're going to at Eglin on MLK weekend.

Yes, I am the STLCA secretary. Funny story. I am going to do some web stuff for them, so I got elected.

I am planning to make the New Year run. You thinking about it? I know that is a club ride, but I am sure anyone is welcome to come along.

The Memfricans will be there in full force. We've got to put some dents in Bill's new doors

I really want to check out some of the "mountains" of north AL. This Skyline place I have read about seems killer.

I could attend the Eglin AFB runs fo sho.

SMC has me planning another ride for Skyline in February. A date hasn't been set but the last two years we've done it the 3rd weekend of the month. Could make this a combined effort if everyone is cool with that idea. Or you could just show up for it because the SMC doesn't care who comes.

Sounds like great idea to do a combined ride. This will be a good opportunity to get the word out about SMC and DixieLand.

Once you select a date let me know. I will pass on the information to some other clubs. I know Cottonland and STLCA members might have some interest in coming.

Are there any campgrounds in the area? If not, could you set up another group rate at a motel?

Thanks!
Howard

That would be nice. I am sure it would be the last time we could stay there too.

Here about 20 miles where im from a new park opened up last memorial day, i have not been out there yet but there is some pretty insane stuff on you tube from out there... mostly rock crawling on youtube but from what i understand there's a lot more stuff out there, i hear rumors of something like a 20 acre mud bog course and much more. Here is the site Home Page

Also there are some back woods i know of that is free, mostly pretty simple trail ridding out there. Although there's possibilities for anything out there, I have rode out there numerous times and i have not seen it all.

You guys should check out Choccolocco Mountain in Jacksonville, Al. It is open every weekend and is an awesome park. Much better than Greyrock or Morris Mtn.
