What battery are you running in your 4runners/tacos?
what brands are you running in your trucks?
anyone had any experience with the exide orbital battery? terminals seem to be located in middle of battery and was wondering if the 4runner cables would reach? originally thought about an optima but it has been tough to find a 34r. __________________ 84' FJ60, 33's and a $25 DIY paint job 00' 4runner, OME lift |

Had the same problem, so got a 34 and laid it on its side (as advertised). Works just fine, no issues for a few years now and plenty of wheeling.

Exide Orbital in my '98 Taco, over two years old, no problems...
I work in an underground mine (read: SEVERE CONDITIONS) and we use the exide orbitals in the heavy equipment because of their durability and cost. |

took the plunge today and picked up an exide orbital. No issues with the cables being able to reach the terminals. So hopefully I will have years of trouble free service from the battery

I have a RED Top, but I recently read that if you do not use the battery frequently (sorry I do not know the frequency), it will not stay charged with out you using a trickle charger.
Luckly this is one of my daily drivers autos, so the battery has been NO issues. But I do plan to do a dual battery system for next year, when I get a winch. I will then get an Odyssey __________________ Cya, Nathan 2001 Tacoma DCab BIG THANKS to the following guys/gals that design killer stuff for my rig: JFab of San Marcos TX, CBI, Donahoe, TC, Timbren, Alcan, R.O.R.E., ViAIR & ARB. www.Z3POWER.net TTORA Member since Nov 18, 2005 - - TLCA Member since June 4, 2008 |

Optima red top. Have been using them for years in all my vehicles for years. I have never had to trickle charge one. The one in my 93 4Runner is 12 years old and still going strong.

I have heard that the Optima quality has diminished drastically . I was on a early bronco forum and the guy that always helped people with electrical problems suggested using Deka Intimidator batteries he felt they were far superior to the Optima.
EAST PENN manufacturing co., inc. - What's New - Press Releases I put one in my Early Bronco and it gave me no problems. |

Optima Yellow top. I have the stereo on with the truck off a lot and it hasn't failed me in 4 years. Works like a champ even in 110 degree + temps!

Heres some interesting info about Deka, Vs. Exide.
Both companys have plants near Reading, PA but that is about all they have in common. I have been at the Exide plant for a shut down where we replaced legs on a convaier that had rotted away. The place is Trully a SHIT HOLE holes in the buildings, contaminated ground (lead and acid), and is just plain hell on earth. Deka on the other had is all about quality and safty. They do everything, and i do mean everything in house. (they have there own hospital) and make every single part themselfs. The place is so clean I would eat off the floor. I wouldnt buy a Exide just because of the plant conditions. __________________ Andy 98 Taco- lifted 3" on 31" BFG at's Well armored and now e-locked! |
