35's on a 3rd gen 4runner
Reading on yotatech, it looks like there is a lot more work to putting 35's on a 3rd gen 4runner. Currently running 33's and it has some slight rubbing.
Maybe a smaller 34" tire would work adding spacers and a diff drop kit. Looking to see if someone here has some experiance. It's a limited with the molding and Rachel would like to keep the molding. Thoughts? |

i think you would increase the likelyhood of cv breakage w/ 35s
maybe you would have to go w/ a uniball uca to get your camber correct? a 295 maybe would fit the bill slightly better but I would stick w/ 33's. I think it's a good combo for that truck. jmo |

i ran 315's on my 98 LTD. combined with front arb & rear elocker, it was almost unstoppable. regeared to 4.88's which helped immensely. if youre smart and dont hammer down when youre locked and cranked, or wildly spinning while bouncing up a rock, it wont break. you can definitely tell the difference on the trail..esp if youre front locked.
fitting them required a min of 2.25~3" lift. in conjunction with a 1" BL. i had around 2.5 up front and 3 in the back, plus a 1.5" 4Crawler body lift. still needed to grind down and seriously massage the pinch weld with a BFH, but they clear. slight rub on turned stuff. might also think about a powersteering cooler. i added one, and had an aux tranny cooler, but never had issues with the oem cooler & tranny temps even when pulling a pop-up, so i didnt bother installing it. if youre going 315's you'll need either 1~1.5" spacer to clear the UCA's. unless youre already running a uniball like camburg etc or shaved arms. this is for a 4.5"BS 8" wide wheel. theres a guy up here that runs a 35X10.5 SSR...a touch bigger than 35. he's on stock suspension, but a 3" body lift. never seen it, but apparently it clears. hope this helps... ![]() |
