02 tundra lift ?
helped a freind of mine put a 2.5 inch lift on a 02 tundra now when he drives the steering wheel shimmies back and forth starting at about 40 mph at about 60 the truck shakes like a tire out of balance. it is a revtec kit if this helps. now after about a week the cv boots are pushing grease out the ends any help would be great toyota is going to look at the boots he got the extended warrinty

2.5 is the MAX you want on a 4wd Tundra. It over exstends the axles which is probably why its starting to spit grease. One way to eleviate some of the strain on the axles is a diff drop. http://www.chaosfab.com/product/acce...tund/96200.jpg
As for the shake, re tourque all the bolts and check all bushings and ball joints, and make sure you have a good alignment shop go over the front end. That much lift (relative to the kind of truck) on a little older truck, the ball joints may be just be worn out. When you lifts these Tundras it puts more strain on the ball joints than what Toyota designed for them and will increase the chance of failure. we put a diff drop kit on when we did the install will check all nut bolt for tighness. as far as wear truck only has 58000 miles on it i dont think wear is a big factor. i know it wasnt abused because i am the former owner of the truck. ill tell him to have dealer ball joints and bolts and stuff.

Has it been aligned yet, since you've completely changed the geometry now? What was the before and after measurements, it may have lifted more than the advertised 2.5". You didn't remove the lower ball joints during the install right?
Double check everything, and get the alignment, then go from there. The new angle of the front axle shafts pulls on the boots causing the grease loss. It can run like this for a while, but if the joint gets dry and some torque is added, then he'll need a new one. __________________ '01 Tacoma dbl cab trd, fabbed rear tire carrier, ARB bumper, sliders and cup holders. |

no we didnt remove the lower ball joints. it is in the shop to get new boots and alignment. pretty sure this will fix the problem.
