Real Time Help---Catalytic Converter Code

2000 4Runner with check engine light on. Pulled the code and its for the catalytic converter. Had the code a few months ago and replaced the 02 sensors, thinking that would do it. Well, it didn't. Here's my question...how long can I drive the 4Runner with the catalytic converter being bad? I was about to head out of town with the truck, but yesterday after the truck warmed up, it had a strange smell, almost like natural gas, slightly sulfuric smell. Does this smell have anything to do with the CC? Is it bad to continue to drive it until I buck up for the new CCs? Is the smell toxic to my child?

Thanks

been looking for a cheap Toyota replacement part for years to no avail, i would think 8 years of service would be ok? Sad it could not go longer but atleast ya know the 02 Sensors were good? Did ya use OEM sensors or aftermarkets?

a sulfur smell is a clear indication of a bad cat. check out car-sound.com for a Magnaflow replacement weld-in cat.
