Tire Help

I have a 1998 Toyota Tacoma, with a 4 Cyl. 2.7 Litre engine. What tire size can I go to on 16" Rims that I won't have a loss of power on, I recently put 265X75/16 on, and there was a great deal of power loss.

hey sparky...this is a Landcruiser forum. I would try joining the tacoma forums, TTORA, do a google search for TTORA and you should find it..

Good luck

Frank

I'm moving this thread to the 95+ Gen Toyota Trucks forum

To run 265s on a 2.7L Tacoma and not lose power you'd need to replace ring and pinion on both differentials. Do you know your current diff ratio?

Michelin | LTX® M/S | Tire Sizes & Specifications a link to a Michelin tire size site

If you put any taller tire on a 2.7 I suspect you will notice a loss of power, it just isn't a big engine. Driving a 2.7 requires patience in head winds and long uphill sections. Off road it does fine.
