Clutches
Ok Guys, here is the deal. I S/C my truck and added a URD 7th, 2.2” pulley, Short Throw shift kit. I have spent the last 2 weeks tuning my truck, open loop right at 12.3 -12.5 depending on the gear. Now that I am not running rich in open loop I am making a lot more power, at first the truck was running at 9.5- 11 ARF. If I run out 1st gear to redline and grab second, my clutch starts to slip and I wont really go until I let up and the clutch grabs. So this leads me to think that I need a new clutch and pressure plate with more clamping force. I don’t think that I want to go with a 6 puck racking clutch disk, I am leaning towards a stock clutch disk with either a TRD pressure plate or a Downey off road PP with 1600 lbs force. I am also thinking about going with a LC engineering aluminum fly wheel, but I don’t know if it is worth the costs or not. Dose this sound like a good set up? Is the TRD PP worth it? Who else makes an aluminum flywheel? Rig specs 2000 4runner 5 speed, S/C, 2.2”, URD 7th, 4x4. I do not rock crawl this truck , I do take it to the desert 5 to 10 times a year, it is my DD. __________________ TLCA #14752, L.A. Bump for a good question. I'm not much help, but I'd love to know about upgrading the stock clutch to handle the power of that SC.

i have a ACT clutch kit and love it. although mine is just their street kit, they offer clutch kits for higher performance demands as well. Ive also heard alot of good things about the Spec clutches.
Idk about the aluminium flywheel, but try checking out LCEngineering __________________ '99 Tacoma 3.4L v6 5spd. 4x4 SAW 2.0 Deaver AAL w/Bilstein 5125s 33x12.50R15" Baja Claws MIOR sliders all-pro bumper and skids Marlin Crawler rear bumper T-Max EW9000 lockrite-rear My Pics |
