New to IH8MUD with '04 4Runner Sport V8

Hi all,

I am new to this forum. I am not new to off-roading or modifying vehicles. I currently have an '04 4Runner Sport V8. It is now out of warranty, so I am now free to mod!! I would like a 4 to 6 inch lift. Any recommendation? Good and bad. I am not opposed to removing the XREAS system. I do not want to do an SAS. Any advise, and pics will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Tony

Most common lifts will yield 3 -3.5" of lift. You have lots of choices from OME, Donahoe Racing, SwayAway, King, Fox, etc. Lots of good kits out there. I woudl say stay away from spacer lifts. Thus you will remove your XREAS to fit any of these.

If you want to go 4' or higher, you have a choice of getting a Total CHoas Long travel kit (which is a high performance lift kit). Or the cheaper more simpler drop bracket kits (which are loved and hated) from Procomp or Fabtech.

You can also add a bodylift to create more space for larger tires if you need.

See this for more info

Needs to be updated wth more info on the new kits, etc though. Or just go through here

I'd go with OME or Cornfed and go 3" then a body lift, if desired. What are you going to be using the vehicle for? Extreme wheeling? Weekend camper/exploration? Mall Parking Lot Expeditions?

I won't be doing any hardcore stuff with this truck. Mostly weekend play. My wife drives the 'runner daily, so it needs to still be streetable. I am looking for some more wheel travel to possibly put some 33's on.

Unless your wife is a WNBA player, I'd not go any higher than 3". Otherwise, she will really hate you.
