Real Time Help--Diff Oil

Replacing fluids in my 2000 4runner and I notice the owners manual says SAE 75W-90 weight API GL-5 oil for the front diff and SAE 90 weight for the rear diff. Is it all right to use the 75W-90 in the rear, as well?

unless youve got a LSD in there which requires different fluid...go ahead and put that in. i used syntec 75w/90 in my front diff/tcase/rear diffs.

thanks Sonny, again in the owner's manual it says for the tranny, it is the same 75W-90 oil, do you use something different. At least from the owner's manual, it seems the front diff, the transfer and the manual tranny oil are all the same. I have open diffs, so no issues there. Thanks.

It's the same for the Tacoma rear diff (sae 90), but I've been running 75w90 since just after I bought it. Maybe a touch thinner? The new Tacos require WS AT fluid, so I can't offer any help there.

06 Tundra DC says same and i will be doing the 30K service soon and i will go with 75W90 Mobil 1 SYN and might add a little LSD Addative just to be sure it has enough and does not chatter. Mobil states it has addative in it allready but i think Toyota requires a 20% mix? could be wrong but a tad more addative should not hurt anything!
