2003 4 runner blinker

helping a friend with her 2003 4runner.... the front blinker is for sure not working along with the front running light... when you turn on the blinker switch in the truck it blinks really fast, only on the side the blinker is out... does this just mean the blinker light is out only, if so why does the running light not work... or are they both out and I should just pick up both at the dealer when I am there...

just looked really quickly.... how difficult is it to change those lights... do I have to take a bunch of stuff apart or are do they just twist and pull out??

blinker relay

I haven't looked at the schematic but I think you have a bad blinker relay (or whatever it is called). There is generally a little module that makes the blinker blink instead of coming on steady. I'm not sure if that is tied to the running light. I'd guess not but it is hard to say without looking at the schematics. I would replace the blinker. You should be able to get one at Autozone for a few bucks- I'm not sure though because I haven't changed one in years and never on a Yota.

Most likely just the bulbs. However a wire with broken insulation that is grounding out will trigger the same fast blink. I would replace the bulbs first.
