DayStar Products ???
Has anyone on the board done business with DayStar products? Or better yet have their product(s) installed on their trucks?
I am having their 3 inch leveling kit installed on my 07' Tundra 5.7. So I hope it is a quality product, not just something I am being "sold". Thanks. __________________ 2002 Land Rover Discovery II SE, Kalahari Package. 2004 Kawasaki Ninja 250. 2007 Toyota Tundra 5.7. 1968 Land Rover Series IIa, with Yota FJ60 axle conversion, coming soon. |

I had some of their polyurethane bushings once upon a time. I dont think they do lifts, per se. They do a heck of a lot in polyurethane pieces. My guess is a leveling kit is poly spacers. And as far as Daystar, I never had a complaint with their stuff, its kind of hard to get poly wrong.

I got the leveling kit installed today. What a difference in the looks. It makes this full-size truck; really look like like a FULL-size truck. Redid the alignment, and it drives beautifully. Only negative is when I bought the truck, I bought a full extended warranty, for the extent of my payments. Now the dealer is telling me that ALL my warranties are voided because of the leveling kit. Even the powertrain. I can't see how a couple of poly spacers can void a drivetrain problem on a brand new truck. But, Damn, it looks good.

Your dealer is,excuse my French, full of shit. It is possible they could deny warranty coverage for an item specifically related to the front suspension, since that is where the modification has been made. But they cannot, by law, deny all warranty coverage. This issue was settled in the courts several years ago. SEMA (Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association) was a plaintiff to a large class-action suit for this very reason. If the dealers could get away with this nonsense, they would be able to shed all warranty liability for stupid reasons, like...."you didn't have your oil changed with Ford brand motor oil, therefore your engine is not under warranty", or "those aren't the OEM wheels, therefore your transmission failure is not under warranty". The only loophole they have is if they can prove that the failure is caused by the aftermarket piece, then there is no warranty coverage. But, the onus is on them to prove it, not you to prove it didn't.
Hope this helps, Luke And modify away, find another dealer if you have any warranty problems. |

I haven't posted in many months, but this kind of stuff really ticks me off. Look up the Magnusson-Moss act. As Lukezero said, your dealer CAN NOT void your entire warranty because of you had some spacers installed. Get another dealer, there are some out there who will treat you honestly.

I just had my 03 Tundra in for work that ended up not being warranty (tire fault). It appears to me though that the Toyota certified and extended warranty people can be real a-holes. They were very pleasant on the phone but it appears, from talking to two dealers, they can be a real pain in the neck when it comes to determining warranty. One dealer even said they sometimes send out auditors and the dealer has to prove something is warranty and not 'abuse'. This has soured me on Toyota a bit.

Outside inspections on service contract and warranty claims are commonplace. It is merely part of the system.
What can and can not cancel a warranty needs to be handled on a case by case basis. I deal with this every day with a Ford dealer, GM dealer, Hummer dealer, Toyota dealer, Nissan dealer and some others but not so regularly. Our most common issue is air intakes and exhaust and chips on diesels. Sometimes it takes 10 hours of teardown to find out if those parts did cause an issue or if another warrantable case exists. Finding a dealer and getting them to work with you on this CAN be done but it isn't easy. __________________ http://www.wohva.com Wisconsin Off Highway Vehicle Association http://www.lenzauto.com Need a truck? Hank; this is exactly the reason I am going with the TRD exhaust and TRD mass air flow intake on my truck. The dealer told me that if they are ordered through the dealer, and installed at the dealer; then they carry their own warranty, and also do not affect the factory warranty on the vehicle. For a full stainless dual exhaust, 700.00 seems like a very reasonable cost as well. But the intake is rather pricey, and not available until october. I asked my dealer, that since I tinted my windows, if there is a problem with my front windows, would they be voided. They actually told me that it would depend on the failure. If the service advisor had been a guy instead of a girl, I would have knocked 'em out cold.

The info you got from the dealer is correct, TRD parts do not void warranty. Use caution, some have to be dealer installed also. We have an 06 Tundra AC here with the TRD wheels, Exhaust and some sort of cold air intake. The exhaust and wheels are nice quality, the air intake looks to be much worse than factory, sounds terrible and would be the antichrist for wheeling anywhere with dirt, water or a mix.

Thanks for the advice, Hank. I am having the dealer install both the exhaust and the intake. My 07' has the TRD package, so I am going to add all of the TRD parts offered.
