2005 GX470 - 2nd row seat removal + roof tent + manuals

Hello, I'll do an intro post later, just headed out for 2 days work and wanted to get my queries started.....

Just bought/licensed a 2005 GX470 and have a 2wk trip to do some fishing (logging roads-northern BC etc).

I see little GX470 info/is this correct place (was most common location when I searched).

Is the 2nd row seat removal very involved? Appears that would add a lot more cargo room and help enable a sleeping platform.

Just today at a tradeshow I saw the ARB roof top simpson II tent, I really liked it! But it's a completely new thought for me/seems very cool but I'm trying to think of any drawbacks with it? I'll be in bear country etc so had planned to 'truck camp' sleeping in the back but was concerned it'll be crowded with my fishing gear/recovery gear/emergency kit/fishing gear etc etc. Tent seems awesome and simple - true?? Any source for great ARB savings? Pricey here in Canada and I'm open to US purchase! (I'm close to border for pickup direct US PO box)

Mine did not come with any manuals and the US website this forum refers to only takes US geographics subscribers......I need the owners manual and PDF is fine or hardcopy.


Enough q's for now, been doing quite a bit of reading (saw some cool sleeping platform creations, thanks!).

Question, is your truck US or CAN spec?

The GX470 is based on the 4-Runner platform, not the Land Cruiser platform while the LX470 a land cruiser. You may want to take a look at tundrasolutions.comm, or search for 4-runner forums to see if they have info on the removal of the 2nd row. Though someone here may be able know, as it may be a second vehicle to them. Also, there is a forum for "other vehicle tech" which may also get an answer for you.

Its actually based on a land cruiser prado - which is a land cruiser!!
