Burning oil

I have a 1994 4.5 Landcrusier and it burns a considerable amount of oil. It doesn't smoke so I'm wondering is it necessary to purchase a rebuild kit or is it another problem. The car has over 200k and the head was off once at the dealership to check after over heating. Since it's neve ran right.

What do you consider a considerable amount?

Have you checked the plugs to see if they're fouling?
