body lift and 285/75R16?

Hello everyone.

I´m considering of purchase KZJ90 after I´ve got my 4Runner sold. Could you tell me some things I´ve planned to do:
-is it hard job to do the body lift 2-3"? Is there any place who makes complete set for 90-series or will 3rd 4Runner set fit?
-is it enough to clear 285/75R16 tires with 8x16" wheels (offset 0)?

i wouldnt do over a 1" body lift. some have done 2" and even 3" on 4runners. I dont think that is wise as there is alot of force on the mounts.
that isnt enough to clear 285's without a ton of trimming either.

Have you considered a suspension lift? Do you have any specific reason for wanting a body lift vs. a suspension lift?

Yes I have, some spacers could be fine too. But I haven´t never understand, how suspension lift makes real room for larger tires. Okay, it´s ok when driving on road, but at full compression there´s no more extra room than w/original suspension if bump stops are original.

So, I think body lift is better way to get room for tires. Other performance and suspension flex things are different things.

I haven´t heard any problems depending of body lift... And like I said earlier, 3" suspension lift vs. 3" body lift = body lift gives you more actual space for tires = less/none? trimming. Or am I wrong?

Hi Matti, what did you end up doing? Did you install the body lift?

I woudn't go higher than 1" body lift, you can also buy a 2.5" susp. lift (OME) and if the room isn't that good just put the extra 1" body lift and you'll be fine

Why? I can´t understand what´s wrong with body lift. I never have seen any damages caused by body lift or heard bad things....

Still considering of 3" body lift + some spacers maybe.

with the body lift and spacers you'll have more body roll than having an entire suspension kit that is desing to give more stability and better on road driving on curves etc. I'm not saying that the body lift is bad I just think that having more than 1 or 2 inches plus the spacers of body lift will definitly change your stability and driving of your truck... like I said before you'll have a lot more body roll during the curves.

adding the spacers and the body lift is a very commun way to get space for tires the only thing I'm not sure is getting a higher body lift than 2". If you want to go this way i'lll be fine with your 2" of body lift and 1" spacers

I'n not a BL fan .. coz I'v seen several rigs with floor problem sure as consequuence of BL .. as well as Body rol ..

Fact with suspension ( no spacers ) you get more wheel travel and flex ( in most cases compfort also and better ride ) that you never get with BL

Hmm... lot of resistance against bodylift. Still new plans: bodylift 2" and 275/70R17 tires on 8x17" wheels, offset 20 mm. I think it´s more stability with BL than with suspension lift. Chassis/motor/transmission is at least 3/4 of vehicle weight. Plus you maintain OEM suspension angles/comfort. I don´t need very hard core offroad vehicle, just a little bit nicer look.

Will they rub, if then where?

I think they´ll fit without fender flares. This is 275/70R16 on stock 16x7 ET15:

I ran 285 75 16 MTR's on my 90 on wider 80 series offset rims, and the rears fitted ok with 60mm lift, the fronts i removed the flares, mudflaps and inner plastic panel, made some room in the fender with an FBH and refitted the parts, so you couldnt tell it had been changed.

The just touched everywhere on full compression, but not enought o damage anything.

Okay. Now I got my KZJ90. It´s wider model, so I bought 33x12.50R17 Coopers and 8x17" wheels ET0.



I still think that body lift is best way to lift for me. I think I have to make 3" body lift, otherwise there´s no room enough for those tires. Maybe I need some fender plastic part trimming too.

Let´s see how it happen... I´ll send pictures when I get it lifted.

Just tested how it fit... No problem, just rubbing mud guard/inner rear plastic. I knew that it´ll rub there. No rubbing A-arms at any position.

So, I have to lift it couple inches. I ordered 1.25" Daystar front lift to level front suspension at the same height, then I´ve desided to install 2" body lift. Have to figure how it goes, I haven´t see any writing about J9 bodylift... Think I need 8 body mount blocks, radiator have to drop 2", steering shaft have to extend, bumpers have to raise. The fuel tank is easy, it moves with body.

The picture lies because is´s taken with mobile-camera and because of bigger wheels. The original size is 265/70R16, these are 2" taller and 2+" wider.

Yes it makes, although those are 32.8" tall. No yet a full vehicle shot, haven´t try other tires. Maybe tomorrow.
