Prado 2 doors Venezuela

Hi I receive a PM to introduce myself to the forum, here it is.

My name is Dariusz and I live in Caracas - Venezuela, my english is not good, please excuse my errors.

I recently (3 weeks) buy a yellow 90 Series Prado 2 doors, in my country this model is know a s Merú. It is stock now (I only change the lights to HID) but the next week I install the OME Shocks and OME or King Spring Springs. I don´t like a big lift because this is my daily car and the parking in my city are in general very small in height.

The next modifications include tyres 265/75 R16 (probably BFG AT) and maybe a new bumper...

I use the car most to travel with my family (wife and daughter).

I think this is all, I am at your service if somebody needs aid in something…

Very nice, I wish Toyota would have brought these into the US instead of giving us the awkward looking FJcruiser. Is that vehicle made in Venezuela like the 80 series or imported from Japan ?

Hi all, today is the day my Merú have new suspension

Springs: King Springs
Shocks: OME Nitro

The lift is only 1" (I don't like biggest lift).

With this combination the truck is more soft and the handling look some better... more info after the weekend (I need to make a good track test)

Here are some pics (sorry about the quality, is a cel phone camera)

Next step the 265/75 R16 tyres

The only negative point I can say about this modification is that the truck by lack of weight jumps back, the front is perfect

Thumbs up

Hi, I'm from Vzla. too, and as many of us, my english is not well neither, I own a TOYOTA RZJ-90 '07 (Prado, Colorado, Serie 90, Meru, etc...) SWB (3 doors), pics soon, but by now is in stock condition.

The first I want is a suspension upgrade, so my question is: Why so many of you are installing OME shocks with King Spring, instead of OME shocks and springs?. You went with the comfort option or the normal option with the shocks?. Someone know the quality of the IRONMAN Suspension compared with OME?

My previous car was a TOYOTA FZJ-70 '94, I'm trying to get used to the lack of power (compared with the 4.5L 1FZ-F 205 HP) of the 3RZ-FE 2.7L (150 HP), I'm listening for any tricks to make this engine gain some HPs (without the TRD).

TEPUI if you read this, please tell me the link to the inclinometer that you bought (You have it already?, was easy the installation?). Thanks in advandce.

Sorry for the long of this post. BTW, I have the Max Ellery's Vehicle Repair Manual for the Toyota Prado 1996-2004 (Serie 90 and 120), if someone need some information I'm here to help.

Thumbs up

Hi again,

One (some) more question: The suspension (shocks and coil springs) of the Prado 90 (3 doors) and 95 (5 doors) are the same? I mean the suspension kits (OME, King Springs, IRONMAN, etc.) are the same for boths?

Thanks.

Daft, Hi, I trie to ansver your 3 principal questions:

- Why King Spring + OME and not only OME.
In my case the problem with the OME Springs are that it exist only in 2" lift and I like a lower lift. With the KS I put 1" only. I use the "confort" setting (the more soft config) but with this inclusive, I feel the rear bouncy.

- Ironman?
I talk with the Ironman people here in Venezuela and read some opinions in the web. The ironman suspensions are good, but... it is heavy duty it is not soft or confortable for a day to day use, but is very good for use in hard competition, I know some fun race people that are changing from ome to ironman by this reason.

- Prado 4 doors is the same suspension componets?
Yes, for the trucks as Meru don't exist a direct option (I think that this is my problem in the rear suspension as the Prado 4 doors have 270Kg more weight). All the componentes are for the normal 4 door Prados, but the bases, conectors, leghts, etc, are the same.

I hope to have been of utility

Dariusz, Dafs, Venom, Walcott: Welcome to Mud! Good to see Meru owners from Venezuela helping our 90-Series forum grow.

dafs, to answer your question about the inclinometer, I still need to do the final installation, drilling, etc. But I need to fabricate a small metal bracket to screw the unit to. This piece then sits over the dash. I will do a writeup when I do it, i just haven't had the time, because i just got married. I did test it though: Opened the center dash (where the stereo is located) inside, I found a small wire harness with the exact connector for the unit's cable. Plugged it in, and everything worked but the thermometer. Then I found out that i need a small temp sensor that sits behind the drivers' side headlight to make it work. I tested it with my friend's temp sensor and it showed me the outside temp just great.

I will definitely do a writeup with pics when I do install it, i just haven't had the time, because i just got married.

If I can help ya with anything else, let me know, and welcome again guys!

Dafs, where did you buy the book?
(Max Ellery's Vehicle Repair Manual for the Toyota Prado 1996-2004)

Is in pdf format or a hard copy?

I'm very interested in that kind of stuff.
