Thumbs up Introduction

Hi,
Just bot an LC. Really a great one - perfect condition, 70k km, almost no offroad.
Used to own a Montero 96 3.5L for 6 years untill recently. The LC 90 is the only model that outperforms the Montero.
Hope to get some good ideas here, tips & tricks etc.
Anyone got an idea how to disconnect ABS in HL or H?
Kobi

Welcome to the fold Kobi

IMO You shouldn't disconnect ABS when in H (normal on road driving) as it's a great safety option (in fact I wish I had it)

ABS disconnect

Thanks dhula.
I only intend to use it offroad. It gives a lot more control on loose surfaces.
I used to disconnect ABS on my ex-Montero whenever I got off the asfalt road, after I almost ran into a tree while cornerring at about 40kmh on a sand and stone trail.
On the Montero I found the right connector to do it easily.
What about the LC 90?

I really don't know Kobi as my car doesn't have ABS so I've had no need to find out. Have to agree about the 'No ABS on dirt thing' tho as I've driven a few cars with ABS on the dirt and it is a bit different

You can have a look here www.lcool.org and perhaps joins the list group and find out if anyone knows

Good luck with it all

Welcome to ih8mud!!!!!
(the green guy is our official salute)

Did you know that the 90 series LC is Toyota's answer to the Montero? Good to know you converted, it means they accomplished their mission. The Montero's are amazingly capable little machines, especially with the factory diff lock, but once you go convert Toyota you will never go back.

Show us some pictures of your wheeling trips in Israel.

Hello Kobi
When i drive on Snow or on Sand, i preffer to have the full Brake Power.
I have 2 suggestions for Your Problem:
#1: During Your Offroad Trip disconnect the Fuse of the ABS - Very Simple, but a little bit rough.. That's the Way, i like it..

#2: I have installed a protectet Switch under the Dash-Board between the wheel sensor from the Front and the ABS-Box. So i can disable the ABS during the Trip...
The System recocnices , that a Sensor is broken (Off-line) and disable the entire System.
And the Indicator Light informes me, that ABS is actualy off!

Enjoy!

Hi Tundra,
Great.
To restart the ABS you probably have to shut off the ignition switch, don't you? That's what I had to do in my old Montero.
Do you have any electrical diagram ond/or a location photo how to reach for the ABS box?
Thanks,
Kobi
