Glad you are all fine.
From the perspective of the Asshole that has to go and look at all of these cars after everyone wrecks them, armor is good for you.
back in page one on the airbags there was a question as to why they would not have deployed, asnwer is simple, the airbags will only fire during a rapid deceleration (sp) event, IE you have to be moving and stop suddenly for them to even make it past the first logic loop, the second loop for firing involves g force deceleration and is more complicated, general rule is under 10 mph and most generation II air bags will not deploy.

As to the sitting too close to the steering wheel my Wife is 5'2", Though you cant see it all that well any more after one accident she was involved in the air bag burnt the entire left side of her face and bruised her cheek so badly that her eye was swolen shot for 4 days. not a pretty picture. Granted teh air bag kept her form being killed but had she been further back it would have been a lot better for her.
