High Heat Paint

Has anybody painted their exhaust system from manifold all the way back to the tailpipe?

Not that I've ever seen, but...

Why? Rust? Astetics?

There is powder coatering. One could likely powder coat anything that will stand 400 degree heat.

Both. They are available in a spray can that can withstand 1500 deg.F.

I sprayed the manifold on my old Duster with VHT High Heat paint. It was pretty good. I used standard paint for the intake, which ran right next to the exhaust (slant 6) and it discolored after a few months, but the exhaust looked great.

Take a look at POR15 manifold paint. I painted the exhaust manifolds on my 97 when I rebuilt the head and replaced the head gasket. I used the aluminium color and it has held up nicely. All of their products have worked great for me.

tailpipe and...

I want to touch up my tailpipe and especially the small rear muffler, because it shows and it's in solid condition just a somewhat unsightly brownish rust color. Would like high heat black or even silver. Perhaps take a wire brush and some alchohol to said area before hitting it with the paint.

I just sprayed my manifold and exhaust with Duplicolor High Heat ceramic black, good to 1200. Looks good, $6-$7 at Checker.

powder coating is plastic and would melt at exhaust temps it is plastic that is baked in an oven only to get it to flow into and melt (shine) the process is not as good as veryone thinks.
You can use much better coatings than powder coating in most all aplications and you can touch up most coatings...powder coating cant be "touched up"
