Only synthetic oil now ....

Finally my 80 runs on synthetic oil.

BTW, I like my shop here (owner has a 03 LC100, chief mechanic owns a 93 LC80). They know their stuff.

But I don't run M1 0W40. Here we run 15W50 because of our tropical climate (usually 32-33°C and the lowest temp around 28°C). Everyday sunshine all year round. So we put in European 100% synthetic oil (Total Quartz 9000 15W50). Runs now like butter (smooth all the way).

At the same time they checked again and repacked my birfields with all seals, replaced some hoses, rear wiper, repaired my door switches, put new brake pads, checked the whole engine and changed all fluids.

And now the price I paid for the whole job: 335 $

I like my country

Mike

BTW, it took a whole day and I was there to learn something !!

I doubt you could buy all the parts for that work over here for that kind of money.

Actually you can negotiate the whole labour costs because here the wages are very low. Furthermore I know the prices for the parts from a find of mine in Germany and I was shocked !!!

Living and almost everything else here is not expensive but wait I paid for my Total Quartz 9000 9,65$ per L

Mike
