Pics of hybrid suspension ... writeup later

I know you guys want some pics so here they are. I ran out and snapped them off quick today after a quick wash of the 80. Just sittin there .. tried to snap a bunch of different angles to highlight the Slee hardware, as well as the new improved stance.

I don't have time for a writeup just yet, so this will have to tie y'all over for now. What I can say is this : I am running the following:

- Slee 4" coils front
- OME 863 rear
- Slee control arms
- Adjustable panhards
- New drag link, tie rod and ends
- Drop blocks; 2" front, 3" rear
- Trimmed rear mudflaps
- Trimmed front bumper end caps
- Slee sliders
- SS brake lines
- Sway bar drops
- The usual other bits and pcs
- 36" IROK's on stock alum. wheels
- Trail-Gear 1.5" wheel spacers

Please wait a moment so I can post a few times with pics . . . in succession.

TY

T Y, can i please request a pic of how close the front diff flange/drive shaft come to touching the tie rod? It will give me an idea of the caster tilt those arms give with 4 inch coils.

Not tonite, but tomorrow maybe from work. The caster is around 5 degrees we figure. Nothing comes close to rubbing, and I've done some pretty sweet jumps already

Speaking of jumps .. I notice with the 4" coils that the front doesn't bottom out on huge dips or small jumps. The 80 rebounds very smoothly .. quite a different feel. I kinda expected with a heavier spring rate that it would jar more, but the opposite is true .. it carries the weight of the 80's nose in a more controlled way .. hard to explain, but any jarring from washboard or where you cycle the front end up and down over a few close dips is quickly controlled BUT in a SMOOTH fashion .. no fillings loose here!! This puppy is smooth as silk ..

Hi Ty, glad you made it back safely. Was a pleasure to have you here and work on your truck. Not all customers walk in the door in the morning with a tray of Starbucks

Ty did not even flinch when we pulled out the airsaw and staret cutting the bumpers and mudflaps.

I think the truck turned out great and we achieve all his goals to have the ulitmate poser stance Had to talk him out of the snorkel since I think it would detract from the Zen look.

Now , paint those center caps, or ditch 'em!

The before and after shots are quite dramatic. VERY nice change.

Ty,

Was Christo's waiting area clean & nice? Did they have nice seats for you to seat?
Did they perform the work in the estimated time?

How about the kitchen area?

Nice rig.

Regards

Alvaro

Looks great! Congrats!

Thanks for posting the evolution, Ty. It's been educational following your progress and goals with your 80.

I am getting ready to do some similar things to mine and have learned and benefited from your pre and post Slee visit posts.

Looks great. What kind of bulbs are you using in your front/rear clear lights?

Who's Vars?

Pleasure was mine Christo. Thanx for all the great advice on the build, and talking me out of a few things .. items that for MY particular situation would not have jived. Namely the 6" lift - too big to have been able to park in my condo underground! Too heavy for my light truck. The snorkel, which I agree would have detracted from my 80's Zen lines , and the 4" coils which leveled things out .. the control arms which prevented us from having to chop the front mudflap area of the truck .. and finally the ARB bumper, so I can wait on your NEW bumper .. coming SOON right .. huh? huh??

I'm not sure if you're serious or not Funny questions .. Yes of course it was clean! The waxed floor reflected more light than my mellon .. and there are ample red leather sofas .. I sat in there surfing on the wireless network for his customers. When you go into the kitchen area check out the cool coffee maker.

Slee orchestrated an exceptional build .. and was accomadating in every way.

My pleasure! I know how much it means to be able to pour over notes on a rig you're interested in borrowing ideas from. Glad my notes might help you along your build.

I'm running the brightest regular bulbs I could find in my local automotive store . clears in the corners, and amber in the signals. Not sure of numbers, sorry.

The coffee shop gurls commented on that as well once .. being hetero, I'd never considered that alternative meaning ..

I will be excited to read your report back on the Iroks as well. I'd like to know what kind of long term wear you get out of them. I had the Bias on a 40 I had and I swear you could drive to town and back and notice wear.
