| The Debutante's Ball OK boys and girls, it's time for my "coming out" into society, so to speak. So, here's my introduction.
I've been lurking, reading and learning lot's from all of you for almost a year now. Haven't had a lot to say because, well, someone else always says it first and says it better anyway. (and I use the SEARCH thingy ) This forum is a tremendous resource!
After I figured out that I just HAD to have an FZJ80, the search began. It turns out that there just aren't that many nice, locked, light colored, low milage FZJ80's in Arizona, so it took several months to find one. I resolved to stick to my target profile and patiently waited for one to come along, diligently scouring the adds and internet sites on a regular basis.
Eventually, 2 decent ones showed up the same week and I went to work negotiating. I ended up going for the nicer one, a white LX450 at the Lexus dealer. The price was on the high end, but it was a "cream-puff", as they say, and the dealer had done a very complete servicing on it. And it was LOCKED!
As the story goes, it belonged to the son of a Nigerian general, and he traded it in to buy his girlfriend a shiny new Lexus convertible with a big red bow on it for Christmas. Supposedly, when they tried to pull up his credit report, it said "Access Denied - Diplomatic Immunity". Well...entertaining story anyway.
We haven't done much real 4 wheeling yet. Went out once right after we got it on a 4 rated trail out by Superior AZ and realized right away that we weren't really equipped to handle anything that might go wrong. The vehicle handled the trail without a problem (low range and locked center diff is GREAT!), but we had to do a lot of spotting to make sure we didn't bang the side rail "damage multipliers", and the stock LTX tires seemed to be getting abused by the rocks.
However, we did go on a fantastic 2 week summer vacation "expedition" all over southern and central Colorado. Truly a memorable vacation. 2 whole weeks with hardly a plan or agenda! No cell phones, no email, no appointments, no promises! Just "well kids, where should we go today?". 2 weeks of camping, hoteling, hot springs, rafting, horseback riding, fishing and sight seeing! The Cruiser let us go wherever we felt like going, pretty much without restrictions. It was great!
So, rather than show you some boring driveway poser shots, I'll post a few choice photos of the trip.
Oh, and by the way, before any of you slicky boys get any clever ideas about asking me out on a date, you should know that you'll have to be formally introduced to my father first....
He's dead.
It can be arranged...

| Well, 1 photo and I seem to have used up my 150KB posting quota. I have no idea if I can put anything more on this thread. It's late. I'll check again tomorrow.

It looks like you found the perfect truck for you and your family.
We take a quick trip through southern Colorado every fall and hit all of the hot springs. It's a beautiful part of the country with a lot to do if you enjoy the outdoors.
Since you've lurked for a while this may not be news to you .... but .... if you start adding goodies to your very capable truck, be advised that it is a slippery slope and few can restrain themselves. Next thing you know, you simply cannot live without that next new toy that only costs $1500 or so. Big tyres, lifts, bumpers, racks, fridges, drawers, even bigger tyres, .... then you start planning for the expensive mods like turbos and such.
