AC Clutch Question

I have a 94 80 series with 165K miles. The AC belt began squealing about 2 weeks ago. After removing the belt, it was obvious that the AC Compressor Clutch pulley was not turning(seized). My question is, can a clutch fail in such a way that it seizes? Or is the seized pulley a sure sign that the compressor has locked up? Obviously, one is a lot more expensive than the other. Thanks in advance.

Most likely a siezed compressor that has taken the clutch out with it. If that is the case you would need both and also do replace the receiver-dryer. Prepare yourself to pay the core charge on the compressor as wlll because the nose is likely to have been damaged by the siezed clutch, rendering the core unusable.

Compressor, 88320-60580-84, list $450.30 exchange (plus a $20.00 core)
Clutch, 88410-26110, list $210.73
Dryer, 88471-50020. list $71.65
Clutch shim pack, 88335-14020, list $1.32
Clutch snapring, 90099-07114, list $1.03
Clutch snapring, 90099-07125, list $2.00

Sangamo, i had to replace the above in my 96 with 120k. Got the goods from Dan at an awesome price (try calling around your local dealers for THEIR version of price) and very quickly. Dan's the man!
