I would be interested in the cooling fan. Does it mount on a 97 without mods? I assume it mounts in front of the AC condensor on the opposite side of the factory transmission cooler?

Yes, on the RH side of the condensor. If you study the RH vertical edge of the condensor you will see two tabs with threadded holes. The fan mounts there and to the center grille brace.

I understand the methanol injection except the fact that commen sense tells me water doesn't burn, and i'm sure it's some type of mixture of meth and water, no?

50/50 methanol and distilled water. Yes it burns. I have soaked it up in a paper towel and put a match to it, it goes up. That is why it is important to plumb it like you would a fuel system so you don't go up in smoke.

Plain water actually works too but it does not have as much cooling efficency, it does nothing to richen the fuel mix and it freezes in the winter

Where is the tank for the mixture and how often do you have to refuel etc? How do you buy methenol?

I use the washer jar. Usage depends on how heavy my right foot is. Commuter driving uses very little. I can go several hundred miles. Towing sucks it down. I fill it about every 125 miles or so when I am maxed out at around 11,000 lbs CGVW. So I stop every couple hours and fill it back up. I carry 4-6 gallons pre-mixed in the back on such trips. If I "play" with it around town It will use the jar up in about 250 miles or so.

I bought a 55 gallon drum. It was 2.55 a gallon.

I'm assuming if for some reason you ran out of the mixture, and didnt have access to it, you could still run fine, but at an elevated temp?

Mine will knock over about 3,900 RPM at WOT without it. If the tank goes dry you just have to back out of the throttle to keep out of the boost. Plain water works too tho. So as long as the ambient temp is above freezing plain water works in a pinch.

In freezing weather pre-mixed washer fluid can be substututed in an emergency. Methanol is the antifreeze used in washer solvent. I would not use washer solvent regularly though as it has dyes and detergent in it.

There was a turbo show on last weekend and they were using methanol injection. THey said the best stuff to use was the blue washer fluid from Wallyworld; about 80cents a gallon.

Interesting..........so under extreme heat and pressure, water will i guess vaporize, not combust though?

CDan, nice rig you have there. But get this, the rig doesn't make the man, the man makes the rig, and you are the man! I was the guy stuck at GSMTR with a split brake line and you found one in stock for me at a Utah dealership. They over nighted it to me and I got one more day of trails in. And for that, you are the man! I still wish my rig had all the mods yours has though.

Same reason Distilled water is used in Nuclear Reactors. Have to put a radioactive emblem on your window.

Nice truck, well done with all the well placed Toyota parts! You give me thoughts of a blower on my 93!

It's a joke actually.

Check this little pic
This is the left side of my JDM VX cruiser - with sleeve and its filled with a Toyota tool kit and bottle jack. Where are they usually kept in US models?!

The jack resides in the exact same place and the tool kit is retained by the jack band. In other words the kit is stacked on top of the jack and the band secures both.

Board members with a keen eye should study your photo because it also shows the non-US cargo cover mounting brackets and a piece of the cover. In addition your solid quarter window can be seen.
