Yes, George's elegant LED's. To include one that he was kind enough to make especialy to fit the OEM cargo area lamp which uses a different length bulb.

When I originally created the list I had not yet added these fine lamps. When I pasted it in I forgot to add them to the list. George also made the ECU that controls the subtank fuel transfer system. Omission corrected.

Dan, can you please post pict of your aux fan switch?

I used an OEM rear defroster switch just like the one already there. It is back-lit and has a power indicator on it. I have not gotten around to making a new icon for it but it is mounted to the left of the colunm so it does not get mixed up with the "real" defrost switch.

Dan,

Great looking rig, with all the weight have you done any brake upgrades?

? how are you making your ICONs for the switches? I need to make one from my CDL. I was going take a pic of one and just photo print on mat paper to size.

What is especially nice on Dan's rig is everything looks factory. I love that, no blingy wires and guages sticking out everywhere with carbonfiber this and neon that........everything looks as if Mr. Toyota intended on it being placed there. A standard to aim for.

Speyrod,

I am running factory 100 series pads on the front, that is the only brake change other than readjusting the LSPV to compensate for the lift. I did not percieve any behavior changes with the 100 pads but the service life, in my case any way, has been dramaticly increased. On the order of well over doubling the life-span.

I have made icons using Word and then reversing the background to black and printing them on mailing label stock. I then cover them with clear 3M chip film like what you see on wheel flares and such.

An excelent observation. I like my changes to "hide in plain sight". Some, like the snorkel, do not hide at all but most do disappear into the canvas of the entire work.

"Something is different about that vehicle and I can't put my finger on it."

I get a kick out of that when I hear it.......

This looks like a good mod to keep the engine cool in low speed scenarios like crawling. It is also useful to keep the AC cool in warm weather conditions.

Any info on part # the price?

John

Dan, what can I say. most excellent. If Tyler sets the bar for civilized clean lean aesthetics, you set it for civilized clean and lean mods. Everything in its place and a place for everything. We need junk's rig next week for contrast

now I do have a couple of questions:

do you have a JDM bungy cord to hold your bottle jack in place as mine would never hold without the tool kit in there to tension it?

for those in a country that doesn't merit scions, what is a scion rear way mirror with 3 chanel homelink???

The jack band in my vehicle has two holes in it. The inner hole holds the jack securely in the cradle. As yours is also a 93 I would imagine it to have the same band.

The Scion mirror is an accessory. It incorporates a Homelink in it. The Homelink is a permanent mount, trainable remote transmitter. This one can store up to 3 codes for Garage door openers, electric gate openers, outdoor security lights, ETC. The three buttons on the left control the three channels. The one with the mirror icon shuts off the auto-dimming feature and the one on the right controls the LED map lights that shine out the bottom. I prefer that one to the original in the roof as it does not blind you whilst driving. Unlike the original mirror this one attaches to the windshield on a metal "button" that is glued to the glass. I used a Chrysler-style button. The overhead console covers up the otherwise ugly spot where the original mirror mounted.

It rolled 130,000 miles on the way to work this morning. It has had the blower for almost 5 years and 45,000 miles. The methanol injection has been on board for just over 2 years.

I installed and tweaked the blower and injection.

I do not "throw things on" and hope that it works..... I carefully fit them and then hope that it works...

Dan, in simple terms, where in sequence and why is methanol injected? I'm sure it has a cooling purpose, but where is it introduced and how do you know what rate?

Wow. Great rig.

I really like the front bumper, less bling than the ARB.

Can you get the secondary cooling fan? I like the idea of another fan for extra cooling.

Just noticed another small thing while looking at your overhead compass and altimeter (BTW which I like since my old 88 4runner had that with a clinometer) Your sun visors are different. They don't have the little "wings" pointed toward the rearview mirror. At least in the picture it doesn't look like they are there, also because they would get in the way of the overhead console. Are these JDM sun visors too?

Also, on the rearview mirror is it battery powered or is there a wire you hid well that taps into power?

Hi Dan
Cool rig, but what did we expect
I would like if you would show more on the (w/kitchen box). My drawer system plans are more for camping than wheelin.
I do have one question though, and I am not trying to be an a--hole.
Since you bought your's brand new, and worked for toyota at the time (?) how come you picked one that did not have the lockers?
Take care Dan

{I stumbled onto this thing several years ago in my first issue microfiche. After that issue the reference was deleted. It also appears in my JDM fiche. Basicly it is a moulded plastic sleeve that occupies the space inside the LH quarter above the wheelhouse. The tool kit slides nicely inside it although I think it may not have been intended for that use.}

Is this part something that can still be bought? I carry my extra tools in the tool kit bag that came out of my first cruiser, it would fit in there nice.
Again nice rig Dan.

It comes in when the engine RPM is above 3,100 AND the boost pressure is greater than 3.5 PSI. The pump is a 90 PSI Flojet demand pump and the methanol/water is passed through a 14 GPH 45 degree stainless steel nozzle similar to ones used it inject oil in an oil-fired boiler. It injects before the throttle body so that it cools the throttle body and the blower case. The mixture also burns so there is an added "fuel" bump as well.

Yes, it can be off-line ordered. The current list price is $61.85 and a board member would pay $46.39. It is not stocked in the US and would need to come from Japan. Allow a few weeks.

The cooling fan is also availabe as an off-line order. The current list price is $292.51, net would be $219.39. Again allow transit time from Japan.

I modified my original sun visors to fit. It was a challenge but they turned out OK. I carefully peeled back the fabric and then cut away the foam that formed the "ears" I then cut the wire frame and re-bent it to make the end square. I slid the cut ends into a couple aluminum tubes and epoxied then togther.
I then shaped the edge of the foam and blind-stitched the cloth back over the ends. It was a nerve-racking job but it looks pretty good. You really have to look hard at them to see that they are not perfect along the inside edge.
Between that and the wiring harness that I had to build to go to the magnetic field sensor in the middle of the roof and the non-magnetic bracket that I had to build to mount the sensor in the roof, I would never do that project again.

The mirror is powered by the vehicle. It has a ground, a constant 12v and a switched 12v. The wires go up into the header and I pulled the power from the map light and the sunfoof circuit.

I will take some additional detail photos of the box.

I got one without locks because that was all that was available to me at the time. Since I had owned 4wd vehicles for 20 years up to that point without locks I figured that I did not absolutely have to have them and I had researched the catalogs and determined that I could add them at some point if I wanted to.
