No problem, you can also call us here if you have any other questions. I definately reccomend rebuilding the injectors for anyone with doubts about the condition of their injectors. I have sent out a few sets for my family members with other cars, great results for those as well. Thanks, Steve.

If you have OCD like I do, you will want to know what condition they were.

One of the Toyota dealers said "Removing injectors and having them cleaned was popular in the 1990's"

Another dealer says to have them test the injectors for about $160. Then if they need to be removed I will still have to pay the cleaning charge. May as well remove them and have them cleaned for that price.

First RC does not rebuild toyota injectors. They clean them, to get to the orignal condition. This is the conversation I have had with them in the past. It seems that the Asain design does not lend it self to rebuilding. so it is just cleaning. That said, the results can be impressive at times, some times not so much.
I disagree with HZJ60, even today certain deposits will acculmite with use in a Petrol engine, vs a Diesel engine. If you use only regular fuel in a gas engine, (some better than other). You will over time plug up the injectors. some injector cleaners work better than other. But I believe that cleaning on a injector stand is the best. We use RC also and usually have a 80 series on the self. Both 3FE and 1FZ. The paper work show how well the injectors are clean up. I personally have not tried the in the engine injector cleaning (other pressure system beside the fuel pump). So I can not comment on it.
But I have liked how the injectors have worked in both rebuilt engines and when we force induction a truck. I do not trust a old injector that has not been cleaned. I have not lost a engine yet doing the things I do when I rebuild or force induction.
I do reccommend getting the injectors clean out of the truck.
No toyota cleaner was some of the most potent stuff on the market for a long time. I used the stuff, it was great. I would smooth a idle out and make for some better ecomany with in a tank full. But our local dealer does not sell it any more, they want to sell the BK44 stuff. I personally use the Red line stuff.
There are other companies that I have used when RC could not deliver when I needed, they did not have the depth of knowledge base RC has.

Not that it's going to be much help to you, I am having my injectors done this week over here.

The process is only a couple of hours for all injectors, albeit Darwin and it's hard to get things up here, the guy doing mine is the best in the area recommended by all other mechanics.

If I bring them in - $520 Aus
If they take them out and replace them - $620 Aus

This is for a recon not replace, was told not to trust the replacement by another mob...

you need to adjust the threashold of the scanner to get better results. Just adjusting exposure won't get there.

Rick, this is a bit better. Hope this helps someone. I was able to remove the upper half of the intake, get all the associated wiring and vacuum lines out of the way and pull the fuel rail with injectors out in a couple of hours - not working like a madman. It took me about twice that to re-install everything. I went through the process of re-checking the timing once I did this too so that took a little extra time as well. So I guess if you had a clean set of injectors in your hand prior to starting you could do this in a day with no problems as long as you didn't have any unforeseen issues.

Flat rate for the R&R of the injectors is around 3 hrs. so the average person that has never taken one off, it might be some extra time to get all the bolts out to seperate the upper and lower intakes.
It is also a lot easier to change the fuel filter at this time, easier to get to. Remember to relieve pressure out of the fuel system by removeing the filler cap at the fuel tank. later robbie

For what it's worth, my service from RC was in Feb 2003 and the total cost including shipping was $151.

Also, Robbie, aren't you also supposed to pull the elec connector going to the fuel pump located near the front of the DS rear wheel well? I remember doing this either when I did the fuel filter or when I did the injectors or both and then forgetting about it. Truck didn't start and I was just about ready to push it in a lake when I finally saw the unplugged connectors. Pretty funny but probably is a safe thing to do when doing this kind of work. I agree that doing the fuel filter while doing the injectors makes a WHOLE bunch of sense. I think George S. also mentioned changing out the fuel pressure regulator too and that is a pretty inexpensive item to replace while you've got it all apart as well. Depending on mileage it would also be good to replace any old vacuum lines as well. Good luck Rick.

With the key off, no power will get to the fuel pump. So I never have done this, I usually just crack a fuel line at the fuel filter to drain off the pressure in the lines. later robbie

I could be wrong, but didn't Slee Off Road used to have this swap service available also? Maybe not, but I remember him offering to help me. Maybe he just had some extra lying around at the time.

Steve0 - no offense dude, but I'd appreciate it if you didn't try to sell your services so agressively. It's cool that you mention things etc, but sometimes it comes across like a used car salesman ya know. Just my view.
