What other Rear Bumpers are out there

I think I will be getting an ARB for the front in the next few weeks. It will have to wait a while, but besides Slle, Hanna and Kaymar, what other rear bumpers are out there? Any link would be appreciated.

I like the side protection on Hanna's

Slee's Bumpers are also very nice.

I likes the Kaymar that Nakman has.

I'm no expert but the 4x4lab I think was from man-a-fre and had to be "installed" by them.

They don't do it (install/sell) anymore, also IIRC the price was something like $2500

Call man-a-fre, I could be wrong thou.

4x4 labs have there own bumper, involving cutting the frame

might be thinking of the 4+ bumper that man-a-fre sells

here is Lukes bumper at 4x4 labs

go custom.... I am sure there are shops near there that could make what YOU want. i really like the way mine turned out. and i could by three of these bumpers for what you would pay for any production bumer.... its all in what you want. If you want the "look" of a 2500 dollar bumper get one.. but mine is just as functional as those and lighter. to each his own..

Iron Pig is another option:

http://www.ironpigoffroad.com/80bumpers.htm

Their bumpers seem very solid. Like all of the ones you mentioned, they would be the better part of 2K dollars with tire carrier+jack carrier+trailer hitch+Jerry can holder.

Kinda generic but no one has mentioned TJM. Its not a bad product and a lot lighter than the others mentioned.

I heard that ARB will be coming out with a rear bumper w/ tire carrier this summer. I don't know what the latest news is on that though. I'm waiting to see what they come up with before I draw any conclusions on which one I'm going for.

If you do a search I believe pictures of the prototype are posted somewhere here in the archives.

NW-sickboy, got anymore pictures of your bumper to share? How much frame did you cut off? Is it bolted or welded on? Nice bumper, simple and functional.

Romer, since I consider you a good friend, I would highly recommend you avoid these guys. The owner of that shop did a lot of work on my truck awhile ago (before he started this business) and just about everything he touched has been a troublespot including lousy welds.

The Foxfab mentioned above is a solid bumper. I know Mike Fox is on this board as foxfab.

Christo's is great. I've seen it and have wheeled with guys that have it.

4x4labs is of course great and I think mudrak was making some too, can't remember for sure though.

Don't forget this thread (which is listed in the FAQs ) http://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/12729-rear-bumper-section.html - I've requested folks to go back in and update with their pics but few have.

If you weren't so far away I'd offer my custom one up for sale, but it's too far from CO to be of any deal for you.

here are a couple of pics of my 4x4 labs bumper, made by Luke Porter, yes you do have to chop the rear cross member but if your keeping the truck for ever its not an issue Mudrack is a very talented mechanic who runs a great shop in sonoma but does not make any bumpers I just have his sticker on the bumper

I have a TJM on my 80. I went with it only because I had a 40% discount coupon which obviously made it much cheaper than anything else.

Pros: blends well with the 80s lines. Looks much like a factory bumper. Weighs less than a Kaymar. The additional tail and turn signals are nice (but somewhat vulnerable to rocks). Good tire carrier (for up to a 285/75 tire). Comes setup with mounting for dual carriers.

Cons: Poor powdercoating. Mine was chipping off on one of the corners within a year. Tire carrier is made for a max 285/75 tire. While it will hold a 315 ok, the tire doesn't set vertical and is too low (departure angle limited by the tire rather than the bumper). Latch is vulnerable as well. Tow hooks mounted on the bottom of the bumper are subject to rock damage as well.

Bottom line other than the crappy powdercoating, its a nice looking and very functional bumper for expedition type wheeling (what it was designed for), but isn't the best choice for harder core rockcrawling.

I'd echo the same things about the TJM. Nice bumper. I got my truck from the east coast and the TJM is starting to rust around the corners and the spindles. I've got it off the truck and apart now refinishing it. It attaches the sides to the frame, which is nice. It wouldn't support the weight of the truck, but could be beefed up so that it could fairly easily.

Had to get a couple parts from TJM. They've been good to work with, but man the stuff is pricey. Bob, are you using the second spindle? I thought about adding a cooler rack or jerry can carrier, but TJM only offers tire carriers.
