Plastic headlight shields ???

Does anyone know where I might pick up the clear plastic headlight shields for my 1994 FZJ80? I have a set on my 62 and on the wifes Volvo wagon, but cant seem to find for the 80.
We live in the Pacific North West and there are almost as many rocks as rain drops up here

I have those for almost 8 years on my '97 LX450 very good and strong material.
Definetely protects your LC80 headlight from the stonechip, debris, etc...specially the LC80 headlight made from the glass -expensive too not the like new car these day mostly from acrylics.
Actually there only 2 company made 'em EGR & IPF and 3 different kind available: Black, Clear and Amber looks same on the pics.The only differents between EGR & IPF. The EGR headlight plastic cover dont have the 2 small black lines across. The one on the pics from IPF headlight cover.
Those (3M) EGR clear plastic headlight gotta be special order from overseas - Aussie. Ill see if i still have their email add & phone # (Mine's EGR clear)

C'mon Eric!

As with most of the stuff in Cruisers (diff locks, ARB's, aux/sub fuel tank, etc...) we don't really need them, but gotta have them.

Nice to know that they are there, just in case a big-ass rock hits your headlights, you get stuck, you hit a deer, your main tank goes dry.....

Over time the glass headlights get pitted by tiny rocks and over the years this results in a frosted glass headlight that is less effective for lighting. These would be great to help prevent that, and seeing as my headlights seem relatively new I'm quite interested.

Yep, all forward facing lenses - headlamp, blinker, side marker.

Regarding damage, glass headlamps get pitted, which reduces their output significantly due to scatter and refraction. The technical explanation is that light waves bend whenever they go from a solid (glass) to a gas (air) or a liquid (rain). If there are many facets (microchips) then the light scatters all over the place. Look closely at yours and you'll see what I mean. Those of us in the West where they use traction sand get it the worst.

Applying these instantly transforms a slightly frosted, pitted lense to clear and glossy again, and does the same for those light waves. The chips are filled with a clear adhesive that flows into them, so there is less scatter. Back close to factory output. In addition, bugs come off them better, etc. The 3M film is also a polyurethane, which is unaffected by UV or high output bulbs - unlike traditional vinyl headlamp protectors. It even has a sacrificial clear coat on it, which can be polished just like the clear coat on automotive paint. Simply put, it is top notch and I own the largest installer of the stuff between Chicago and Seattle.

I forgot to mention that if you order a kit and also have aftermarket fogs, include the dimensions and I'll custom cut covers for $14.10. These fogs should be near flat lenses, as the bullet shaped lenses require professional installation. Most mini lamps are not flat, most larger lamps are flat enough for you guys to handle on your first try.

I was just thinking about calling up the dealer and seeing how much the clear healdlight covers would be from Toyota for my 94 LC. So are you guys saying Toyota can't get them anymore?? Or they have them but just are too $$ ?

Also, I was looking at getting the smoked bug/stone deflector for the hood and possibly the smoke window vents, preferably Toyota ones but I was wondering how much it would be
(perhaps Cdan can chime in or anyone who has bought these from him?)

Yeah, we deal in 3M ClearBras as well but I strongly discourage trying to install one of those yourself and will take it a step further and likely decline selling one to you so I don't lose a friend. They're really, really difficult to install for a first timer. Kinda like idly noticing the car in front of you has an obvious home tint job, the DIY clear bras will look like crap even for someone who's had prior experience say with window tinting - the closest thing skill wise. These are WAY harder as the material stretches, which means puckers, etc, AND it has a powerful adhesive on the back. A recipe for you to get halfway done and have all manner of finger marks, bubbles, wrinkles etc and get so pissed off you'll just toss it in the trash in frustration.

Also, someone asked me for a photo of them. The whole concept behind the 3M product is invisible protection and you simply cannot even see that they're on from a foot away. You literally have to run your finger around the headlamp to feel the edges to even know they're there. So a picture will show, well, an 80 headlamp. They're 14mils thick, which is the thickness of about 5 sheets of paper.

The bummer with the acrylic lense covers shown above is that they get dirt between the headlamp and the cover - requiring removal and cleaning in foul weather just when you'd not like to be out.

On a trip to Las Vegas, a car traveling on the opposite direction suddenly crossed the open divider area (driver's drunk/sleepy) and swerved back just a tad to avoid a head on collision at 75MPH. No accident but the car did send a bunch of small rocks to the cruiser - the bumper suffered most damage and a blinker had a perfect hole on it; the rock went through the lense too fast to make any cracks on it.

That said, I'd be interested in Doug's kit, with the concern that NorCalDoug raised for us LX owners.
