100 Series Pads with DBA 4000 Series Rotors?
Before I order the 100 series break pads for my 1996 FZJ80 and it's brake/front end overhaul I wanted to ask if the 100 series pads fit with the DBA 4000 series discs? I thought I remember reading somewhere that the DBA rotors are thicker ( 1.265") than the stock OEM discs and with the thicker 100 series pads there are fitment issues? Is anyone running DBA 4000 series discs with OEM 100 series brake pads on an 80 series?

I'm running that exact setup. The 100's pads will fit.

Are the DBA rotors clearly better than OEM or is it just preference? Not sure what to do.

Don't know. From reading here on Mud, the factory rotors are fine. I went with the DBA hoping that the slots would help improve brake feel and I liked the idea of slotted rotors. I also had a serious problem with the rotors that were on the truck when I got it warping. A lot. Honestly I got the most improvement in brake feel when I replaced the brake booster. I would say that this is a personal preference and so long as you use quality parts you will be fine.

Matt - what did you replace the factory booster with? I just installed new factory 80 series rotors on my '94 with the 100 pads (no chatter shims - won't fit until the pads wear) and I can feel a bit of improvment. The lifespan I'm told is 3x over the 80 pads. What personal preference were you looking for in the brake feel with the new booster?

I ordered an OE replacement from CDan which turned out to be a Bosch. I did not replace the booster to improve pedal feel but because it had failed. However when I replaced it I noticed that the pedal was firmer. The braking has always been good, it just didn't feel good. The only time I have ever doubted the brakes is when the booster failed. If you are looking to replace your booster just for pedal feel that is a very expensive thing to do as new ones from Toyota are pricey. However there are aftermarket alternatives, but I don't know anything about them.

Are OEM pads the way to go or are there others that work just as well. I hear OEM last 3 or 4 times longer, but does that mean they are harder and wearing the discs faster? I know everything is a compromise. I'm looking for better breaking, pad life, if a lifetime pad sourced locally wears faster so be it, I'd rather replace pads than discs. brake dust isn't that bif of a concern...
Organic, semi-metalic, metalic, ceramic?
Any other brands or is OEM best? OEM are pricey, though maybe for a reason.

I seriously doubt that OEM pads will cause the rotor to wear faster. Remember these are the pads the manufacturer specified, and we're talking Toyota, not GM. The 100 series pads are larger than the stock 80 series pads and so far have been holding up well. Remember that its the pad that wears, not the rotor. Me and many others are using these pads and have been for years. AFAIK no one is reporting lower rotor life.

What are the prices of the DBA rotors compared to OEM?
Has anyone had this set up on the same truck for a good comparasion of both in terms of longevity, feel, and stopping distance?
