Solid rear windows?
Where can I get solid rear windows to replace the sliders?

Perhaps find out what country the model was sold in with no sliders and try their version of ebay.
Another idea is replace them with Lexan cut to size which IIRC is clearer and stronger than perspex and does not scratch easily, and of course is lighter.

What condition are your sliders and glass in? I have a 80 series with sold rear windows and am looking for sliders. Want to trade up? Where are you located?

Try Toyota USA. I think that the sliding rear windows were part of the third seat package. No third seat = solid rear windows.
Rare to see an 80 w/o the third seat package but they are out there. Other MUD members can confirm

Just don't like them. Plus I have 2 sets of them, the frame on the pair off my 92 completely oxidized to nothing. The second pair off a 93 is just starting to. I'd like to replace them with solid windows and not worry about it again.

My JDM 80 had solid rear windows. Wish my newer cruiser had the same thing. PM "Mot" on here; he may be able to help.

I would not do Lexan. Unless you don't care about scratches. Lexan is superbly stong but what makes it strong is that it is fairly soft compared to Plexi. Even wiping dust off Lexan will leave very small scratches. So over time it looks like garbage. I am speaking about this from personal experience. In a previous life I installed Lexan in boats and logging equipment.
If you are doing this to a strictly offroad 80 then would be a decent way to go.

In order to convert to solid glass you need the glass, the weatherstrip and new vents. The slider glass uses a different weatherstrip and vents. In addition the solid glass is not available in privacy tint.
You would be looking at ~400 bucks to do it with new parts.

I knew the weatherstripping was not the same, but did not know about about the vent being different. I may have struck up a little deal with a Canadian.

I did the exact opposite on my 80 earlier this year.
I haven't replaced the vents/louver covers yet though.
I still have them, with the gaskets and all if you (or anybody else) want them.
Not sure which would be more cost effective though.
If you're both serious and desperate, I'll try to get you a shipping estimate. (I've sent glass/window before, but had to get a special box from an automobile glass shop.)

Has anyone written up a report of rebuilding the slide windows so they open up easier?
Mine takes so much force to open my wife can't do it...

The runs are old and full of dirt.
