Honda ATF-Z1 in my Power Steering?

Think I would be ok using Honda ATF-Z1 in my 80's PS Pump? I think something is leaking and I need some ATF to top it off.

i have the same problem. pressure hose leaks fluid and i topped it off with honda power steering fluid (because thats what i had stocked in my garage for the civic). works fine for the moment. when i get the leak fixed, i'll have to flush it well and change to dexron III so i would have the same fluid running in my tranny and power steering.

Why don't you just buy the proper fluid? It's like three dollars, max.

Because like Phil said it's what I have in my garage for my 93 Civic.

But I'll pick up some stuff today. What should I get? Toyota ATF or ATF D3 from the parts store?

I use Mobil 1 Syn ATF in mine.

Well I just put some Napa ATF in tonight and drove around a little. The only thing I can see that looks fresh is a drop hanging from the lowest point of the gear case. And that where a lot of oil is. So I have to get in there and really clean it up. How hard is rebuilding the gear box?
