In my limitied knowledge, there is not an adapter made for this. However, it seems like the you should be able to bolt it up to an early 440 auto... Maybe swap tailshafts on the 440 to the 62's tail? I really wish someone would start playing with these things...

Amen to that Chad, I want a split case...NOW. Aussie lock'd front and rear now and it just don't feel right running with the hubs unlocked and everything else spinning. It works....but just doesn't feel right.

What about a front driveshaft disconnect? I've looked those up, why is the typical price over $500??

A case out of an FJ-62 will obviously not bolt up to a FZJ tranny. And I doubt that anyone will ever offer an adapter, I hope somebody would. I have an FJ-80 and I plan on installing an A440F out of a 62 with the 62 split case when the driveline goes back in. But after the FJ-80 I don't think an A440F from a 62 will work with the FZJ, isn't the ECU connected somehow to the tranny in the FZJ? Next will be to put an H55 into the 80. In my FJ-60 the 3FE + H55 work well togther, too bad they nevfer offered the 80s in stick here.

IIRC, 80's had the A440 trans til '95... What is the difference between those and the A440 in the 62?

Electronic solenoid control.

Which makes them REALLY cool. only the coolest kids have them.

I would think it would be easiest if one wants a split case to start at the Engine fan and work back...

LS1, 4l60E, split case
LT1, TH400, Split case
4BT. Th400, split case

You get the idea.

I ment about the case and tail shafts... Could you mix and match parts to make an A440E that bolts to a split case?

As far as I know, they are the same case and tailshaft, but I could be wrong.
