AutoMeter = Awesome Customer Service!

Just wanted to share some love here ... awhile ago my AutoMeter Wideband Air/Fuel Gauge LED Digital Display started failing one LED at a time. At first it was the topmost horizontal bar of the second string of numbers, which didn't matter much cause I could still tell what the number was, then it was the middle of the second string, and then eventually three more LED's on other strings made it much more difficult to determine the digital readout of AFRs.

I called AutoMeter and told them about the problem. They asked me several specifics such as part number, serial number, etc and told me that a particular production run some time ago was found faulty and they asked me to return the gauge, just the gauge, for inspection and repair or replacement.

"Okay", I think to myself, "no worries whatsoever" ... I returned the gauge ten days ago including two full weekend's worth of days ... I expected a pretty long wait with them inspecting it, warrantying it, and either repairing or replacing it. Today, only six business days from sending it to them, I got home and had a package from AutoMeter waiting for me! I was astounded to find not only one new Digital Gauge Display, but, the whole shabang shabang replaced! New gauge, new wiring harness, new sensor, new hardware!!! I really thought that was awesome. Now along with perfectly working gauge I've got a new sensor for whenever I want to replace the original, and, if anything at all happens to the wiring, I've got that covered too. I tell ya, I was impressed; from start to finish they were polite, professional and prompt.

Ohh, the tech content, starting several thousand miles ago I started slowly ratcheting up the boost in .5 psi increments from 8 psi up to 9.5psi which was basically right before I sent them the gauge. Now that its back I'll ratchet to 10 psi using the wideband as an indicator of how the rig is handling the additional boost.

Anyway, just felt that AutoMeter earned an endorsement here for those that might be considering getting any gauges.

Why not get the gauges that don't break to start with?

turbo,

Can you tell much/any difference, seat-of-the-pants wise, that you've been increasing your boost?

Anyway, have fun, and good luck blowing things up!

Yes its been in for three full years IIRC. AutoMeter did not even ask about age, they simply stated that one particular production run had this particular problem and they told me that they would either repair or replace it. I thought "it" was simply the digital display. Again I really was impressed how happily they stood by their product, and, to Mot's joke, all my other gauges (other than the stock ones) are AutoMeters and none of them have failed. Some are over 10yrs old now. Anyways, when someone earns an endorsement I'm happy to say so and I think they did that here.
