Stock Height Suspension Kit
I am considering a Slee stock height replacement kit. Has anybody measured the distance from the bump stop to the axle on the coil springs front/rear after installing the stock height replacement kit? This info would help determine my expected lift. Thanks for any help

Expect 1" in front and 1.5" in back depending on the condition of your old springs. Add an ARB and it drops a little, add a winch and you'll drop another 1/2". I added the Slee 1" rubber spacers to my front to get back to almost level.

Thanks for the info... How is the ride? What tire size do you have?

send a pm to uabericm. He is in Birmingham and has an lx450 with a mix of stock height springs in the rear and ome 850's(heavy) in the front with an ARB and new stock shocks. His sits almost perfectly level and rides great. I had the stock height springs on my last 80 iand loved them.

I assume you are referring to the Old Man Emu kit available from Slee. See this post for some lift measurements:

I used to run an 862 (stock height) in the rear, with an 851 (medium) in the front. Sat nice and level. Good for about 21 1/4" center of hub to fender.

The ride is very good, better control then stock with less roll in the corners. I ran the stock 275's for awhile before I put the 285 Revos on. A little firmer ride but still very good. Good choice if you want minimal lift as I did.

Thats what I am looking for. My truck is a daily driver that will rarely see a trail. I think the 1-1.5" will be perfect. I will also put the 285's on, probably BFG AT's. I am gonna measure my center of hub to fender tonight to see what my lift will be.

take a look at the Nitto Terra Grapplers when you start tire shopping.

I just installed the stock height OME kit from Slee on a 97 LX450 and the owner was very pleased. The biggest suprise was the ride quality. The springs look and acted like a Frankies type spring where the top of the coils are compressed together which gives it a little lift. The ride was firmer yet still very supple. The owners wife had issues of body sway on the freeway with the tired stock setup and now is very happy with every aspect of the new suspension.
As with any coil spring set up, the 80's will sometimes have a small ride height difference in a corner after the suspension settles. Ill be adding a small packer (spacer) to his LR to level it out. Very simple to do.

I like the Nitto tires. So one side on the 80's needs a small trim packer to make it all level out??

x2 on the Terra Grapplers...
Trim packers can be used to "fine tune" the height of your suspension (ie one corner not as high as the others). When I ran the OME 861/862's the height was dead even on my rig... each rig/spring is different though.

Do you mean passenger vs driver, or front vs rear?
The 80's should be level passenger vs driver (left vs right). You may need spring spacers to level it out front and rear (depending on what you have installed).
Some people don't mind a bit of stinkbug. I have half an inch of it (rear is 1/2" higher than the front), and I actually don't mind as when I load up the back with gear or tow the boat it doesn't sag in the back. If it sits perfectly level when empty, then it will be sagging when loaded. This can be a problem with your headlights as you may blind oncoming drivers.

If you want to see that exact set-up (tires and all), you are welcome to drive down to Thorsby where my 80 is stored. There's a photo of mine in the link that is referenced above.

Man that looks, good. No need to come look at it, thanks for the offer, you did a great job with the pictures. Where did you get the tires? Those are exactly what I want, but they tend to be high dollar.

I bought them at Tire-Rack.com and had them delivered to my friend's shop for mounting. I just checked the price and it would be $1140.60 for 5 of them delivered to Birmingham. I say 5 because you really need to have a spare of the same size on an AWD vehicle like the 80.

Sounds like a good price to me. You really need the spare for this vehicle to be the same size.

x2
That's actually one of the big reasons I went with the Grabbers. I could get 5 mounted and balanced for under $1k.
