Painting/Polishing wheels?

My wheels on my 40th anniversary are peeling, bad, also the caps. Has anyone polished their wheels? How do you match the caps?

What about painting? I'd rather not dismount my tires, has anyone painted their wheels and had it LAST?

post some pics...

Lots and lots of threads on this--do some searching in this forum and you'll find a bunch.

I sandblasted and powdercoated mine a dark grey called anthracite. And then never put the center caps back on. Too far down the to-do list!

There's a couple links to center cap refinishing in the FAQ under Bling.

On both my 80 and my taco I just taped the tires off primered, painted, and clear coated. I did scuff up both sets and got rid of some corrosion with a wire wheel/sand paper.

The taco job has lasted 4 years with rock rash being the only thing wrong.

I used duplicolor wheel paint/primer/clear. Works on the plastic caps good too.
