What color is the steering wheel in your 80?

Looking to find a close ratio on black, gray and tan wheels.

Having 7 shipped out to be recovered, but thinking more tan ones would be wanted, yes?

Thanks for the help!

Shane

That's the big question Ben, I have a deal worked out with a vendor on several as if I bury myself in these they want them. Meaning if they are just way to expensive to do and sell then they will buy them all.

It's going to be expensive as I am told it is not just a cover. They are stripping them to bare metal and building from that and are to be exact as OEM new.

I want one out of the whole deal as I really want a 97 LX

I could be completely off base but I've never seen a pre-airbag wheel in anything other than black.

I assure you, my steering wheel is not black. The dash portions behind it are black - the steering wheel is most definitely grey.

No point is arguing because I could say that my Poison t-shirt from the 80's is grey, but it started as black.
Your picture of your steering wheel looks black. lighter than your dash, but black, and especially when compared to the gray leather covered steering wheels of the later years.

For the sake of the thread, I retract my grey (dark grey ) answer in the poll. If Mr. T calls it black, then I have a '94 black wheel..... still looks off black to me

It might look grey now but that is what 15 years of sun will do to a steering wheel. Toyota calls the color black.

Toyota lists the steering wheel part for the 91-94 cruiser as black. The leather equipped 80's from 93,94 had black leather wrapped wheels.

Oh boy, I may have to retract as well; I thought it was gray. I will post a definitive answer back later tonight. Should we all just post pictures instead?

my 97 and 96 are both brown leather, my son's 91 is black plastic. Are you recovering the leathers or stripping the plastic wheels.

A little confused.

I have black, or at least as close to black as it can get while looking gray.

Steering-wheel color

Shane,
My 97 LX450 has a Brownish-tan wheel, similar to the ones you have pictured above. I believe they call it oak. Just got a price from Craft-customs for $300 to completely recover and repad it to like-new specs with a 1 week in-house turn-around.
Interested,
Geologic
