New Exhaust Available for FZJ80

EDIT 10/9/2009:
For anyone interested in purchasing the exhaust in it's current version, this is for you. We're calling it's current version p0.91. We've built a few sets already. With the p0.91 version, the things to note are:

* If you have a larger than factory spare tire in the factory location it may rub the exhaust pipe
* As noted by Ebag333, interference may occur with the rear control arm with heavy articulation of the rear axle during rock crawling
* Sliders should fit, but may require trimming (from what we've seen so far though, they should fit without trimming)
* Will be 100% bolt-on for 95-97 LX450 and Land Cruisers
* Should fit 93-94 FZJ80 as well, but has not been test fitted yet

Options:

Full "Header-Back" Exhaust (including Y-pipe & Cat section) - Complete ehxaust system. Bolts to the OEM headers and goes all the way back to the exhaust tip.

Y-pipe & Catalytic convertor section only - Bolts to the OEM headers and includes a high-flow catalytic converter. Bolts directly to the secondary OEM catalytic converter.

"Cat-back" Exhaust (Bolts to the primary OEM Cat) - Bolts directly to the OEM primary catalytic converter, and goes all the way back to the exhaust tip.

END EDIT 10/9/2009

EDIT 9/1/2009:
I'm very happy with the way the setup has turned out. It actually came out a bit better than I was expecting when we started this project. Now I'm itching to get it on a few trucks so that we can get some feedback from the community on what you guys think when you are able to see/feel/touch/hear it in person.

If anyone is interested in being a beta-tester for the exhaust now that it is complete let me know. I'll leave it open to anyone in the US (minus Hawaii or Alaska). You'll need to be on a 95-97 Land Cruiser. It'd be nice to get a mix of supercharged and non-supercharged guys. The normally aspirated guys will probably pick up around 10-20% HP/torque increase, the supercharged guys may see around 15-25% increases (we'll see once we get a few on the dyno.

Please send your inquiries regarding beta-testing as personal message on the forum or as email. Included the following info:
Name
Vehicle year
Milage
Naturally aspirated or Supercharged
Location (city/state)
Any problems with the vehicle (mechanical or otherwise)

EDIT 8/29/2009: Didn't find anything that I'd consider a good setup. So we're making our own and will have them available for sale to the public soon. We're making a full mandrel bent 2.5" setup designed for maximum flow and ground clearance. It's an "over the frame" design. These are going to be a "modular" setup that you can purchase as a full exhaust including high flow catalytic convertor, high flow muffler and new Y-pipe, or you can purchase it from the y-pipe back, or from the cat back. This way it'll be a setup that can be adjusted to fit any budget. Pictures have been posted throughout this thread with updates of the development process. I'll keep adding as updates are available. I'm adding the pics to this first post for you lazy folks

Finished and ready to go:

I had a Borla and IMO it was a POS. I installed a Bosal on a 92 and it fit very well and wasn't all that expensive.

Don't really want to use a muffler shop if there's already one on the market.

Looks to me like list price on a Bosal system is roughly $1500, not even sure where you could buy one. Local muffler shop here quoted me $350 for a complete custom exhaust including two new cats and new muffler....

I just purchased the Bosal Exhaust for my 93. was $122.34 plus two exhaust gaskets. That was just for the muffler though. Not really sure if you were looking to replace the whole system or just the muffler

Wow! I thought I was doing good @ $585 for a new system from the downpipes back. And that was about $200 less then the next best estimate.

go to the bosal site and find a dealer. It turns out that there is a warehouse not far away and a parts store that sells them so it was a no hassle no wait kind of purchase.

Everything bolted right up to the factory mounts. Really straight forward. They can even supply the rubber mounting blocks if you need them.

I did the "Rage Big Bore" and I can not complain for the money. It will be really cool once future mods come into play!

Do any of these designs eliminate the asinine "under the frame" routing of the exhaust pipe between the cats and that HUGE muffler? I did a cut and turn on my 97's cats the other day and gained some GC but still have to do something about this routing....

I lke it, the wellllll! The kit comes with a diesel muffler so I installed a standard truck muffler instead. I think in the future I will try to find a 3" Toyota muffler to make the Mrs. happy.

This design is made to go over the frame rail on diesel trucks. However, on a gasser you need to get rid of the rear cat, to make it fit. I plan to do a turbo in the future. At that time I will take it over the frame. Then my system will be basically 3" all the way from the turbo back. Now it is 3" from the cats back. I did also notice a noticeable increase of throttle response along with Landtank's MAF. The 1FZ-FE just breaths a lot easier now. More air, more power. I have some hills around my house on the FWY that my truck would have to shift constantly between 3rd and 4th to keep up with traffic. Now I can just cruise up them at 70mph+ in 4th. Much easier on the transmission.

If you do not have the strident emissions like California you can not go wrong with this kit! I received my exhaust in four days from the time I ordered it from New Zealand. The guys at partsco.com are really good and easy to deal with! Here is a link:

1st link is partsco.com

Toyota Rage Big Bore Exhausts - Partsco.com

2nd is a link to the manufacture. They have a good picture of the exhaust!

I bought kit set BB9085 or partsco #25593

Not to hijack the thread, but can 95'-97' exhaust bolt up to a 94'? Can the twin down pipes on the 94' get converted to a single, inline cat setup like on the later models? I am wondering so that I may be able to run the above system on my truck.

While you are doing your research you might want to also add the Magnaflow #94006 cat. I have book marked this thread as I too will be replacing my full exhaust system at some time, but for an FJ80-Series [92].

Hmm, well, let me ask this then since it doesn't seem that there are any "good" exhausts that are a straight bolt on without any modifications available for our cars. Or at least not what I'd consider good ... What would you guys be willing to pay for a proper setup with tucked piping, with a high-flow cat so that you can pass emissions, and 2.5" mandrel bent piping for the naturally aspirated guys and/or 3" mandrel bent piping for the SC/Turbo guys???

Whichever. Stainless will be more $$, but doable all the same. As long as I can get around 5 people per batch we can get them done easily. I'll need to sign up as a vendor here first to show our support Anyone interested though?
