Newb Oil leak help - mucho pics inside.

So my new to me transplanted from So Cal FZJ80 has started to mark it's new territory so all those inferior vehicles in the neighborhood know it's around and to stay clear.

Leaks are primarily on the passenger side of the vehicle.

From my searching I guess this looks like either the rear main or the pan arch seal -

So I popped the inspection plate on the bell housing - it didn't feel like there was any oil sitting in there *shrug* but it looks from the staining there may be a little ?

Most of the oil leaking seems to be coming from somewhere inline with the front diff and blowing back - there is significant oil on the bottom of the lower radiator hose - but next to nothing on top.

Looking down from above the AC compressor there does not appear to be much oil on the block itself - so I'm thinking it's the oil pan seal that's gone. There is significant oil on the bottom of the lower radiator clamp - yet almost nothing on top.

Looking down at the front of the motor.

I didn't have time tonight to pull the little skid plate to take a pic - but the passenger side of the number one oil pan is *really* gunky.

It also smells really rich when you first start it up.

Sorry for the post being pic heavy - but I wanted to give as much info as possible to help diagnose the leaks.

This is the first vehicle I've done any substantial work on and I felt like I earned at least half a this weekend back flushing the cooling system and changing the pesky heater hose. The thermostat also got replaced as it was frozen open and has been for goodness knows how long.

Thanks for any opinions - hopefully it's not too expensive to have put right. I'm a hobbyist photographer and this will be my PhotoWagon - so it needs to be bulletproof as I'll spend significant time solo in remote areas.

Hence the purchase of an 80.

Shameless Photo whoring :

Looks like a pretty classic 'cruiser "rust preventative maintenance discharge."

Unless you pressure wash the underside of your rig, and then run it for quite a while, you'll never find exactly where the seeping is coming from. The wind will blow it all over the place making it almost impossible to track down.

Unless it's going through more than 1 quart of oil every 1k miles, I wouldn't worry. (That's the bottom end of spec, IIRC.) Or if you're seeing some dripping/spotting on your driveway when you park it overnight.
