Fuel Filter replacement - any hints???
I ordered a Fuel Filter from CDAN when i bought the truck as PM, since I did not know when it was done last...
I am planning on getting to it this weekend, any tips?
It looks like it is gonna SUCK to get to.

Its not that bad but does take some patience. I took the drivers tire off so I could roll my stool into the fenderwell and changed it through the fenderwell. Break the lines first (17 or 19mm if I remember right) before you unbolt it from the bottom of the intake. I think the bolt that holds it to the intake is a 12mm. Unscrew the gas cap to release the pressure in the system. In my opinion not even close to as bad as the PHH I lost all patience there Hope it goes well for you

Ended up taking mine in to have it replaced. The shop (owner drives a 80) charged me 90.00 to install.

I have this on my to-do list and want to make sure I do this correctly. Thanks.

Here's the underside of the fuel filter.
Left is front, right is rear.
I marked where Slee is suggesting to cut slot. Those are 12 mm bolts to intake.
The banjo's are 17mm I believe.

Oh and uh, no smoking during this job.
And no drop lights with incandescent bulbs if you can avoid them. Just my opinion on this and not joking here, shop lights with regular bulbs put out a lot of heat (think your sister's EZ Bake Oven) and when you drop them, the bulbs can explode.
Easy job...you can so do it man!

I did mine when I took the upper intake and TB off to get at my VSV. It's really easy when the upper intake is off and you get to clean the TB and intake and replace the vacuum hoses which are probably rock hard and cracking. Taking the upper intake off does take more time than doing the FF alone though I imagine.

Not a tough job. Access everything through the wheel well. Remove the flexible body flaps and maybe even remove the tire (use a jack stand). I did mine without notching the inner bolt hole, but to each his own. Might want to do the job in the morning or at the very least when the engine is cold. You don't want to increase your chances of a fire when the gasoline drips from the lines/filter. While on the subject, you might want to use a drain pan or something similar to catch any fuel that drips.
