Trip Meter broken

Is there a way to fix/replace the little "trip mileage" button on the speedometer side of the gauge cluster (at the bottom)? When I press it in to reset the mileage, it turns for a few miles (maybe 11) then it stops. Is there something broken in there? Is this a common problem? Please help. Thanks!

Already have a thread on this. Not to much input. I hope you get more.

I had the same thing happen in one of my other cars, a 911 Carrera. The gear driving the trip meter had basically disintegrated because of age. I had a habit of pushing down on the reset button pretty hard at times too. Not anymore. Anyway, I ordered a replacement gear for it and opened up the speedo to fix. I'm not sure how you would open up the gauge cluster in an LC though but replacing the gear can't be all that much different. You really have to take you time with this. Those parts are very intricate and break easily.
