| exhaust options I need to replace front to back - I can't complain it has lasted 180000 miles now. I have been searching and these seem to be the options available:
1) OEM - pros: last longer than the truck at this point. cons: extremely pricey, sticks down here or there.
2) Borla - pros: mandrel bent cons: 2.25 inch pipes, a bit loud for a DD.
3) Bosal - pros: OEM style replacement, 2.5" mandrel bent. cons: sticks down here or there.
4) HDJ aftermarket - pros: 3" mandrel bent, nothing "sticks down." cons: not specific to vehicle, have to fabricate and weld in cat and front y pipe.
5) Local muffler shop - pros: quick cons: crimped bends, corners cut
Is there anything I am missing? I am not currently planning on a turbo or blower so think 2.5" piping would be ideal. In any case I need cats to pass emissions testing. I do not know how to weld - but buying a welder and learning to use it is not out of the question.

| Another option I went to 3" exhaust with a Magnaflow SS cat and a Magnaflow SS muffler. Was stupid loud, annoying, droning, rice rocket hell. The tonal howl of the thing was unnerving and embarrassing.
So, I replaced the muffler with a Stainlessworks one. Stainless Works - Stainless Steel Exhaust Systems
Compared to stock, the stainless works model is still pretty loud. However, it's about 1/4 the volume of the Magnaflow and has more of a rumble roar than a rice rocket rip. Since it's a 3" exhaust, the louder is expected and since I'm only running 1 cat and 1 muffler instead of 2 cats and a muffler and a resonator (stock), that is pretty much as expected.
Custom Y pipe (aluminized), over the frame (both spots) in full 3" mild stainless. It wasn't exactly what I wanted (I wanted full no-rust stainless), but it was what a local shop could do.
IMHO YMMV

| Subscribed I'm nearing the point of exhaust work at 145k. My thought also was to check out some headers for the purpose of possible weight reduction and gas mileage improvement?

| Doesn't Toyota have a lifetime exhaust warranty? I thought that they did but I want to redo the exhaust and rotate the cats because I hate that they stick out like they do. |

| My exhaust is leaking, my hangers have started giving up the ghost one by one, etc. Original at 196,XXX miles. I am considering a cheap cherry bomb and making my own 2.5" exhaust exiting on the driver side. I have only one O'2 sensor pre cat. Thinking of deleting the cats. We'll see.

I don't think it is really a bad bet on their part. 12 years with one exhaust - will the truck make another 12 years?
Thanks for all the replies - still thinking of what to do.

| IIRC, Mr. T's warranty is on a replacement exhaust if they sell and install.
