Steering box free play adjustment

While I have the car up on axle stands to do the rotor change, I have quite a lot of free play in the steering wheel, is it worth adjusting this? could it be the free play that is also making the wheel wobble far worse than it should be?

I have read that it is best done with the wheels off the road on stands, as they will be, what is the best sequence to take out this free play.

free play in the gear box will definitely give you some wobble on braking. I had this just a few months ago.

I just checked and it has 2 inches of free play before you start to feel a resistance
