I had to chuckle at this. For years I wanted a Rover (cheap to buy, $$ to keep running) or a Cruiser ($$ to buy, cheap to keep running). God smiled upon me and granted me the '96 Cruiser for $5k (VGC, no damage ever, 125k miles, best deal of my life from a very good friend who knew I loved Cruisers). Anyway, I still haunt the rover forums & tonight was reading about rover FINALLY admitting to and recalling the 'misaligned front driveshaft' problem for over 19,000 rovers. If you know about rovers, this is a HUGE problem that affected dang near every one of them during that time frame. One of the guys (who's a really good & helpful guy) said:

"Why make it sound so tramatic, it is just a recall, not an unfortunate experience that Rover is aware of, will pay all the costs and in some cases give you a loaner to drive while your truck is in the shop. If this is truely an unfortunate experience for you, you really need to get a life."

Another fellow chimed in: "By the way, recalls happen with every car manufacturer and it is definitely no big deal."

Are you kidding me?? If my 50,000 dollar Range Rover blew the frickin front axles out and 'LOCKED UP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS', I would personally go to England and shoot the dumbass drivetrain engineers. I think we could all agree that yeah, rovers are cool, but it's like being married to a supermodel. Nice to look at, but a real pain in the ass to live with.

I don't mean to sound all high-and-mighty. I love my cruiser, but the intense loyalty of the rover crowd is amazing.

"Blimey! so the front axles broke on your $50k truck? What's the big deal? Have some tea & crumpets."
