I just got your name and confirmed on the site that it was you (Junk). Then I found your ad and discovered it didn't have lockers and now I am off my high and am bummed out.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner, although B, I'm disapointed to see your avatar has changed. Hope you're doing well.
I would avoid that truck like the plague. Yes, it used to be mine. Sounds like your current owner is less than 100% truthful and not very knowledgeable.

I was actually about to post that given the appearances and what we know about the truck - it sounded like lipstick on a pig. Run away...Run away....
Seriously, *8K* is too much. I wouldn't pounce on this one. Just based on the rust issues i see in those pictures, the birfields need love, and there are an awful lot of drag scratches underneath on the frame. It's seen some time off-road.
Now that Junk has confirmed what B thought...I'd move on to another vehicle. Junk knows this truck best.

You are right there. I doubt, upon my inspection, that I would have bought it. I would have been bummed that I wasted a day of my life and 50,000 frequent flyer miles to go see it. I won't lie, I had a flight booked yesterday, for about 4 hours. I am actually relieved, as I was going back and forth between "Go see it!" and "Run away!" about 500 times yesterday. Now I can get off this roller coaster....................until I find another.

I am doing OK Junk, thanks for asking.
What's wrong with my avatar... not manly enough? You want me to bring back the global destruct button or the welcome wagon or another that I have used at some point?

That truck has seen some serious Wheeling. Sold my 97 40th LC TD in January this year I drove it hard. Never looked that scared. Patience, the right truck will come. If you really want it make a ridiculous offer. You never know?

That's right...patience. I was looking at all these different 97 LC - some with head gasket issues, etc. I finally realized I just didn't have the time to properly deal with a "fixer upper" truck. Anyways - I just started to relax and up popped a 97, one-owner (not locked) very clean LC with 100K. i bought it for $6500 here in San Antonio. That was a fair price for me - so you will find what you are looking for.

I was always fond of the Global Destruct Button, but so long as you like it.
Enjoy the holidays bud.

With that truck, it's actually what you can't see is why I wouldn't buy it. This is just an example of why no one should ever buy a truck without seeing it first or if you do, to at least have a local knowledgeable person view it first. I bought a 40 from DFW, and found a cruiserhead to look at it for me first (airlaird) and have had others look at trucks for me like Adams in CO, Pimp has checked stuff for me etc.

"It's what you can't see." "Avoid like the plague." Would have been swell had you advertised it as such in '06. Sounds like what you're saying is I'm supposed to have someone knowledgeable inspect it so that I don't get scammed by an untruthful fck? Nice manners, mike/junk. Merry xmas.

Romer told me that I was intimidating the newbies with the avatar that had the Global Destruct Button. Even after Curtis badgered me into adding the welcome wagon (thanks to Photoman!!), it seems that I was still responsible for running off all the panzies errr, I mean newbies. How soon they forget the days when Junk was the mod for the 80 section!
So now, Beo is in touch with his feminine side and uses an esthetically pleasing brown fox. (Doncha think it is pretty though?)
Maybe we should bring back the GDB and just let the new guys deal with it?

Don't buy it. I have all of Junk's good bits on my truck! And Mrs. CDan has the other bits! And yes I can say that Junk has wheeled this vehicle pretty hard. Hell, Junk's truck was on the back cover of a number of TT's in the early 2000's going through a mud pit in Paragon IIRC that was all the way up to the bottom of his windows!
That said, and to agree with WarDamnEagle, working on a rust belt vehicle is awful. During my rebuild I would say that 75% of my bolts snapped while trying to remove them. Lots of tapping going on and then of course probably about $500 in new OEM nuts and bolts.
Just looking at the driveshafts bothers me.
Pass on this one and find another one--preferably from the Southwest.
Good luck.

I'm no guru - but that's some serious rust creeping in. Also, what's up with the beat-up lookin' drive shaft?
Yeah, it looks nice on top but I agree with the others with more experience - pass and keep looking.
Best of luck in your search.
