Squeak in 97 FJ 80 - Ideas?
My 1997 FJ 80 has 67,000 miles and when accelerating from a stop there is a rather high pitched squeaky sound for a couple of seconds. It never makes the sound at any other time (stopping, accelerating at a speed greater than 10 miles per hour, etc.). It does not make the sound everytime I accelerate from a stop. The sound is not made if I hold my foot on the brake and depress the accelerator. Any ideas what this sound may be? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I would check your belts and pulleys first. I had a sqeak like that from my AC tensioner pulley that went away when replaced.

Thanks for your input; the sound is coming from underneath the vehicle and the squeak is more like a sound resulting from friction/stress in the drivetrain.

Have you lubed your drive train?
If you have the CDL button and done the 7 pin mod you can pull one d-shaft at a time and see if the sound goes away or changes. __________________ '97 LX450 - The -mobile'96 LX450 - Mine! ![]() Triple locked, 315 General Grabber AT2, OME Medium, 1" body lift, belly skid plate, grey wire mod.
