Manual tranmission downshifting problem
Hi guys,
i've searched the thread in all possible ways but I can't find the answer to my problem so here it goes: Shifting down from 3d to 2nd gear (manual) became harder and harder lately and by now is near impossible, especially when the engine is cold. As soon as things start to warm up, it gets a lot better. It's a 1996 80 series diesel (1HZ) with a manual transmission. It's done about 270.000 km's. Does this just indicate wear and require an overhaul or could it be something else? Funnily when I was testdriving other 80-series to buy one I encountered one with 280K with exactly the same problem. Hope you guys can help! |

Sounds like a worn synchro to me, and likely spells a tranny rebuild for you.
