8 or 10 inch wheels?

I have the original stock 80 series wheels with 315/75R16 Coopers STT's... have a set of 10" Eagle 058 wheels I want to use instead.

Can someone tell me if putting the tires on a wider wheel will make the overall diameter smaller? Or maybe bigger?? One would imagine that the more you go out one way, the more you take off another.

I really like the wider stance a lot better as it feels a lot less tippy, but the tires I have now look small already and I really don't want them to look any smaller.

Thanks guys.

Tires are not balloons. The diameter will not change.

Backspacing is the issue. The 10 inch wheels (or any aftermarket wheel) will affect how the tire tucks into the wheelwell. If the backspacing (sometimes called offset) is an inch or so different the wheel won't stuff nicely inside the wheelwell, resulting in less travel and damage to tire/flares/body. The factory 80 wheels are pretty much perfect in this department. But since you have a 4 inch lift maybe you have the room for a wider stance without tagging the body.

Yeah, I think stuffing might be an issue... looks like a lot of guys run stock wheels, probably because it really is the ideal setup.

Here's a shot in the dark, anyone have pictures of their 80 with a 4" lift and 35's on a 10" wheel?

The Cooper's measure 11.92" wide by 34.47" high. I have these on the stock 8" wheels.

The SSR's measure 12.3" wide by 33.4" high. I have these on the Eagle 058 10" wheels.

When they are next to each other, they look pretty similar in size other than the width because of the rim I guess. Would it be worth just swapping the tires and keeping the 33 SSR's or should I put on the 315 Cooper's on the 10" wheels? If the measurements above are correct, then it really is only a half an inch I would be losing in height.

Opinions on the tires? 315/75R16 Cooper STT's or 33x12.5x16 Swamper SSR's?

Here are some pics of the tires, I realize it's a bit hard to compare as the angles of the photos are off and the distance of the rear is slightly off as well as the LC is a bit longer:
