Lifting a pre 08/91 80 = less lift?
Hello.
I have a HDJ81 manufactured in 02/1991 A year ago I purchased a set of H&R +2" lifted coils. When I mounted them I got almost no lift in the front (about an inch) and about 1.5" in the rear. I thought it was strange cause a only have a light tubular bumper in the front and no extra accessorires in the rear, but It was enough to fit my 285/75/16 so I didn't worry much. But after a month, I read in a forum about a guy that had mounted the same springs and he was surprised cause they lifted more than promised (2.3" in the front and 2.8" in the rear). It sounded strange but I thought maybe his stock springs were too sagged so it made a big difference. About 6 months ago, my cousin mounted in his HDJ80 manufactured in 05/1991 a pair of OME 850 in the front and OME 863 in the rear. The rear achieved the promised 2.5" when unloaded, but the front was very low. Comparing with another guy's 80 with the same springs, you could clearly see my cousin's was about 1" lower. Now, I saw this statement in a website from an Ironman Suspension dealer: "* Pre 8/91 models will have 20mm lower lift. " Ironman Suspension 80 Series LandCruiser How can that be possible?, what happened after 08/1991?, different spring mounts or something? Have any of you heard about this before? |

Speaking only from hearsay and rumor, I think the diesels had different springs than petrols.
Also, my rear springs are about 2.5" higher than normal stock, but they are painted as if they are factory stock-hight springs. __________________ Jonathan M. I just read that the pre 08/91 had a different spring mount and that's why they lift less. At least in Australia.
