91 alt issues

I have ordered 2 alts so far both wrong what do I have here? is it a one of a kind cruiser alt or what. It was replaced in Florida a few years ago with no issues now WTF I cant get the right one. Sorry cant afford Dan right now college students pay is not so great.. here is a pic of the connector the rest looks OK on the reman'd units... The connector is way wrong on the reman alts. .

So...what's wrong with the alt you have now?

There are no "one-of-a-kind" cruiser alts, so it's just a matter of finding the one that fits your truck.

Bring your existing alt into any reputable alternater shop and they should be able to help you out.

Sounds like the old 80amp vs. 90amp. Not sure which one you have, but you could be getting the wrong one from the auto parts store. If you add up your wasted time with the cost of the alternator, you would be close to the price of a reman OE unit.

...that cheap ass alternator needs a pig tail adapter. I had one just like that, it came with a pig tail in the box.. That alternator lasted less than a year.

80 amp alternators have internal fans and 90 amps have external fans. IIRC

This is supposed to be a 80 amp alt... No pig tails have come in the boxes. Unfortunately the alt pic is from a so called reputable shop in fl. I now live in the boonie of new mexico. so there is nothing here but the ZONE or a checkers. Napa here 80 miles away has no clue as to ordering what I need.

Beware Checkers auto they will not refund my money at all I am stuck with a 185 $alt that i can not use.

Any idea as th what I should be ordering?

you is a genius. I looked at the truck found the pig tail and WOW the alt i have works... SWEET
