need new keys quick

so i lost my keys late last week on my way to the beach (long story). well now i need to get a replacement key. the closest dealership is over an hour away and my title is still in my moms name. she wont be able to go up there to have the key made and they said by law they have to have proof of ownership of the vehicle and a picture id to make a key. so would there be anyway i could order a key and have it shipped to my house by wensday???

I think only a dealer can make a key from a vin. You don't have a spare anywhere? Lots of places can duplicate these keys, there is no electric chip in them.

Might call a locksmith and ask them what they can do. My post is purley a guess

Pull the passenger side door lock cylinder. take it to the dealership and have them make it while you wait. 12$. Depending on the year of your rig (usually less than 12 yrs old), they may be able to cut a key from the vin but you do need to provide proof of ownership in that case.

My dealer said they could not make a key from the VIN.

When I got my rig it only came with one very worn down key. My local dealer told me to get the digit/code engraved on the passenger side door lock cylinder, from that they made me a brand new key.

Then unless something major changed in that last ten months they are wrong...I contacted my friend/Toyo dealer parts guy and got my key code, took to a dealer closer to where I was stuck, the key for my '97 was worn and stopped working, they cut if from code and it worked perfectly.
